I'm thinking of canceling BOG for Thursday dinner because my daughter's scared of the beast. Any reason I should keep the ADR? What's special about BOG other than the beast?

The most spectacular thing about BOG is just the restaurant/castle itself and the atmosphere. FWIW, you really only see the Beast when he walks through the dining room to the study, where you can have your picture made with him at the end of the meal, but you don't have to. My DD4 is a bit scared of him as well, but she loved BOG.

I agree...keep the reservation. When you check in, share your daughter's fear and ask if they can seat you in the main ballroom or the rose gallery...I would avoid the west wing. It is dark, and there is a picture that changes (when the lightning flashes) from the prince to the beast. It freaked my DS3.5 out. Our solution...since he specifically asked for the west wing was to sit him at the head of the table, so the picture was behind him.

The best only walks through once every 40 minutes or so, and down the center of the rooms, and does not approach/interact with guests. The remainder of the time, he is tucked in a small room to the side, where she won't even know that he is there.

It is a fun place, go for it. They make an announcement when he is walking through, so that will give you a moment to prepare her/take her to the bathroom if need be. It is over in a couple of minutes. Cool, but not a big deal.

We did lunch (FP) and dinner in December, and dinner was way better than lunch for us...and lunch was wonderful too.

I would not cancel. The castle is amazing and the kids loved it. We got lucky and sat right in the middle of the main ballroom and nd my young ones loved it. They loved the snow fall behind the stain glass windows. And the food is good as well.- get the Grey Stuff!

I agree with the others (although I think you're already convinced?) - keep the reservation! Be Our Guest was one of my favorite experiences of our last vacation and I look forward to going there again next time. The food is GREAT and the detail of the castle is awesome. :goodvibes

I don't believe the West Wing is open for dinner (unless this has changed?), so you should be fine. As for the Grey Stuff, I believe you need to list a celebration (birthday, anniversary, anything else you can think of) in order to get it. Just call Disney Dining and add some event that you're celebrating to your ADR. It really is delicious and I would recommend it!

Enjoy your highly coveted ADR! You'll be so happy that you didn't cancel! :thumbsup2

Thanks all but actually I did end up canceling. My daughter is incredibly scared of the Beast so the thought of him walking through would have ruined the whole meal for her. She would have been on edge the entire time. I could barely get her to do Enchanted Tales with Belle even though I explained to her repeatedly that the Beast wouldn't be there. And she cried at Chef Mickey when Goofy came to the table next to us (we had already talked to the staff about her fear of goofy so they kept him away from our table but she still was afraid.) hopefully someone else picked up the ADR and enjoyed it!

Always follow your mommy instinct. Next trip she may really enjoy it and there is no sense in setting her off this time. I have heard the QS Tavern part is awesome :) When you see crying kids at WDW it is frequently because they are being pushed past their abilities to cope, and that ruins the fun for them and the parents. You can always go next time.

Keep it @@!!! Its truly magical !! My DDS (2) is a bit afraid of the Beast as well, but he just does a quick little walk from one room to another--- takes around 30 secs---

GO, GO, GO !!!!
