Cancel a Kindle Book Order

My wife accidentally placed two orders for the same book for her Kindle. They are both on hold right now (changing CCs) so does anyone know how to cancel one of the orders? I've looked and I can't find any directions as to how to do that. Both orders are in the "digital orders" area. Thanks!

Go to customer support, click on "call me now"; somebody will call you immediately and take care of the problem.

That was one reason I picked Kindle over other e-readers... Amazon.com has always provided us fantastic customer service.

Well, my Nook won't let me buy a book a second time.
It tells me I already own it.

If you make this mistake and realize it IMMEDIATELY, you don't have to call anyone -- there's a prompt on the "Thanks for buying" screen that asks if you bought this by mistake. I've done it. It's easy to push the button incorrectly.

Normally Kindle does this too -- it'll provide a message to this effect: "You purchased this book on March 1, 2010" and it won't continue with the purchase.

However, sometimes the same book is available in different formats, and the Kindle doesn't recognize that. For example, you might purchase The Lord of the Rings, and then later attempt to purchase The Lord of the Rings Anniversary Edition. Or maybe it'd be The Lord of the Rings with Bonus Material.

That example is totally made up, but you get the idea. How do I know this? I bought two copies of The Scarlet Letter, and I didn't realize it until the Kindle added its "category feature". When I organized my pages and pages of books into categories, I realized that I had two.

Exactly.. I love this feature. Sometimes I forget that I downloaded a book earlier.

B &N customer service can't be beat!

Neither does the Nook, as far as I can tell.

We were discussing this yesterday, as it pertains to Treasure Island - there are a dozen or so different e-book editions available, each with its own ID.

neither the nook or the Kindle will let you purchase a book twice but as others have said, if they update the product and issue a new ASIN - you can get a duplicate.

In both cases, both stores will refund one of the titles.

Amazon however is the only store that gives a 7 day eBook return policy for any reason.

Yes, 7 days for Amazon, 14 for BN .

Barnes and Noble will not return an eBook unless there is something wrong with it.

From their website:

Items That Cannot Be Returned
We are unable to accept returns for NOOKbooks, magazines, downloadable PDFs for SparkNotes and Quamut products, gift cards, and shrink-wrapped items that have been opened. Please note: Once purchased, NOOKbooks cannot be refunded.

Amazon will accept a return of an eBook for any reason, within 7 days of purchase.
