Canberra just got a Costco - I am in heaven

That is such a sensible way to think of it PIO :rotfl:.

And my figure is getting fantasticer and fantasticer by the day thank you very much.

I was at Melbourne Costco today, am also in :lovestruc with the place.
Saw a tv there that we've had our eye on, $3099, priced the same one at Harvey Norman asking $1000 more :scared1:
It's obviously a great price but at the moment it's between that and one and a half airfares to Orlando

Ms Shuttergirl, I must try those mangoes, sounds like something I would like even though i'm not much of a dried fruit fan myself :thumbsup2

They really need to introduce the Costco travel deals like they have in the USA, some bargains to be had there :)

I go regularly to the Melbourne store - I have found getting there at 10am on a Tuesday morning I can be in and out within an hour. I wouldn't go near the place on a weekend.

The ice cream sandwiches are SO yum, and who can resist a bucket o'vegemite and a giant tub of Best Foods Mayo? I know I can't;)

We bought a bottle of Ranch dressing that is the size of a small child. I love ranch and I doubt that bottle will last long :rotfl2:

I am tempted to buy the ice-cream products but have a bit of a drive home, how long does it take you to get home for the ice cream to last? LOL

Yes, a costco travel service would be awesome.

We get the giant Skippy peanut butter to remind us of the US. Each time we go i put in a suggestion to get more USA products into the stores, there are bits and pieces here and there, mainly clothing, but I want the snack goods. and usafoods never has anything good in stock.

We tried the alaskan crab legs the other day, my daughter still remembers eating them in Savannah Georgia last time. Funny thing was the price of 4 legs cost more than the entire meal in Savannah which included 6 legs and a bunch of other seafood !!!

I love the fact that the costco membership gets you into Costco in the US!

Do you mean before it melts or before you eat it? :lmao:

Have you tried to crabcakes? (found in the freezer) They are to die for!

I went to Costco specifically just to get the Skippy, I got two because my husband has now decided it's a great idea to eat it with a spoon, nutella I get, peanut butter I do not

I'm dying to try out a Costco in the USA just to see what other products they should be selling here LOL

Becpee, I looked at those crab cakes and my husband said, no way. We aren't getting frozen crabcakes.

So are you telling me that they are hmm mmm good? Because I have my fingers crossed that's what your sayin:rotfl:

Also in the frozen section, for those of you that like chinese soup noodles. Keep an eye out for the CP Prawn Wonton Soup with Noodles. It comes in a pack of 6. Add water and microwave. For a frozen "packet noodle", it is surprisingly delicious.

Just make sure it says "with noodles". They also sell the no noodle variety.

I'm going to have to try the crab cakes next time I go.

They are mmm mmmmm tas-teee (would be better if they were bigger ;) )

I really liked their tempura prawns, crisped up really nicely!! Their cannelloni is on the menu tonight! Mmmmm....

I definitely want to try more of the food there. There was a lot of pre packaged and ready made meals which would be good for our many afternoons taken up by sport etc.

We joined yesterday - children are disappointed there were no Swedish Fish or Goldfish - I would have loved to get Snapple.

It was still too crowded to have a good look around - we did like the discount on Twinnings Tea, Illy Coffee and Cranberry Juice.

Ummmm, I've been banned from Costco for a month.

It seems that my DH feels spending over 1k in a week is over the top.

Who knew.

Slinking back into my corner for another 4 weeks until I can shop again :).

I just have two words for you before I go

CREAM PUFFS

Also try the calamari Which us same brand as the crab cakes, also very tas-teee!
DH polished off the rest of the box while I was at work last night >|

Just back - OMG.

Do any of you have a red Barina with mouse ears antenna topper, and was there today. If so , we saw your car.

First time, Sydney. We arrived about 25 minutes before opening, got a spot really easy. Lined up to pick up our membership cards, took about 10 minutes from starting to line up as we did the paperwork online yesterday. Did the big carpark lineup. I told DH it was practice for rope drop next month :rotfl2: Didn't take too long to get in.

About 1/2 hour into the shop it was getting pretty crazy busy. We purchased some lamb and some steak. I don't know that it was that much cheaper than our local butcher, but it looked pretty good. Some chicken breasts and tenderloins which were the same price as locally, but it saved me another trip.

Got some muffins, LCM multi packs for school lunches, Oreos, Tide to Go Sticks, Christmas Paper which was nice looking, 50 connector Faber Castle Textas for DD, zip lock bags, socks for DH's giant size feet, and some other "stuff".

but the best thing - FRESH-ish Peanut Butter Cups Minis - 56oz mega bag, about 1.5 kgs, around $15. I opened the bag and could smell the freshness. :cool1::cool1:

About $270. Pretty happy. We would of probably got more but it was getting too busy. I asked the doorman, he said Tuesday - Thursday between 3pm and 5pm were the best times to go.

We'll go back in a couple of weeks. DH and I are fortunate enough that we almost drive past the Sydney one on the way home from work - about 200 meters out of our way, and we could be there before 5pm.

Ooh, and we both got a hot dog and coke each on the way out for the grand total of $5! BARGAIN!!!

thanks for the update on the Sydney one Kylie. I was thinking about heading today, but worried the weekend crowds would be too much. I'm going to suck it up this week for a weekday opening.
