I am thinking of sending some items to our resort this August. I was wondering if anyone alse had done this and if so what is expensive and did it arrival okay?

TIA Cheers

Need more info from you.

Are you planning on sending items from your home to the resort, or are you thinking about purchasing from US retailers and having them ship to the resort? I haven't done the former, but have done the latter quite often.

We shipped to the resort we are going to be staying at and had no problems! Just told them at check in it was there. I just would time it so it arrives close to your arrival date. I had to make sure to include my name and check in date in the address. Saved a lot on shipping to canada! Plus avoids duties

Sending from Ontario to WDW. But having said that, so you ordered online from US retailers and had them ship to the resort? :thumbsup2 DW really likes the store Art of Shaving but they don't ship to Canada yet so I was trying to think of how to get some..;)

I think it would be very pricey to ship stuff. Depending of weight etc. Even a tiny parcel within Canada is like $12.

But many times we have ordered from Amazon, Gymboree, Pottery Barn etc and had it delivered to the hotel.

We seem to order online from US retailers almost every time we go down. We've had great success with having packages from Amazon, Zappos and Tiffany sent to us at the resort. You just need to coordinate timing of the shipments to coincide with when you'll be there (or even a few days before, just to be safe). If you run a search, there are a few threads in the Dis which talk about what you need to put on the shipping label (reservation number, etc.)

If you are having packages sent to resorts which have a business center, there is a pick-up charge (I think it was $5/package when I shipped to the Grand Floridian in February). We never encountered an additional fee when shipping to Animal Kingdom and Saratoga.

Everytime we arrive at a Disney resort there are usually over 10 packages waiting for us. :scared1: My husband is a huge internet shopper and we've never had to pay a fee to the resort. We've only stayed at values and moderates. He says the savings are huge.

I have ordered from US retailers often online. Each night when we went back to our resort room it was like a mini Birthday as packages arrived.

If you're considering groceries, water, etc., friends have used Garden Grocer with great success.

Keep in mind, if you stay at a resort that has convention facilities, there may be a charge for them to receive a parcel for you; Last time I stayed for a conference and had documents shipped to YC (CL), there was an approx. $10 charge and I had to pick it up from the business centre in the convention centre. Yet last year at Poly, they were able to ship it to Front Desk who then gave it to CL desk for me at check in , no charge.

Wow, I wish I had though of this on our last trip. We had an item that wouldn't ship to Canada and we searched Buffalo before our trip with no luck finding it in stores. If it arrives before your trip how long will Disney hold it for you? I would want to order early to avoid an issue of it not making it in time.

If you're interested - I have used a shipping/frieght company in Lewiston, NY (about 5 mins from the border) for more than 18 yrs. They will keep for as long as you like ...charge $5 a pkg. Easy. I go there approx 1x a month for whatever has been delivered there and do an outlet mall visit at the same time :thumbsup2

I would love the information if you pass it on. I went to order 3 boxes of stuff a few months ago. It was flat fee of $15 per box anywhere in the U.S and $125 per box to Canada.....ridiculous!!!!

I do this every trip. No added costs were added and I just picked the items up from front reception. It's perfect for our early December trips annually since I get a ton of Black Friday/cyber Monday shopping done and shipped to the hotel for free!

There is a place in Sault Ste Marie Michigan that will let you ship to them and they hold it as well

We've done both. Usually we'll place an online order with the retailer just before we leave and try to time it so the delivery occurs within a day or two of our arrival. As a PP suggested, make sure you put your check-in date in the address.

On our last trip to Orlando in March, we ordered a couple of larger items which we didn't think we could get back for free in our luggage (we were flying Spirit from DTW) so we had them shipped to a depot in Port Huron where we picked them up on our way to the airport and left them in the car while we were gone. The cost was $10/package but it was far cheaper than paying the shipping to Canada plus maybe the taxes as well.
