This may be a bit of an obscure question! Have any of you ever used priceline to rent a car before? We've used priceline for hotels many times, but this is our first time renting a car. Our bid was accepted and we found that we got Alamo at MCO in September.

I read over on the transportation board that there are kiosks that you can use to bypass the counter. You can scan your driver's license into the kiosk. I was wondering if any Canadians have done this, or are we out of luck? I'm soooo hoping to avoid the main counter if at all possible!! Thanks for any info.:goodvibes

what was the accepted bid and when are you going, if you don't mind. How many days is your rental for? Does your per day bid include airport fees and taxes?

I'm interested in doing priceline for our August trip but need company that allows spouse to drive for free as well.

Total cost is $117USD (including taxes, airport fees, but not insurance or additional driver's). We don't need to buy anymore insurance and only need one driver so that is the total cost for us. It's for 7 days (we bid $11 per day).

Wow, I think I'll try that route.

thanks for the info

Well, haven't gone through priceline, but on our last trip we did rent through alamo using as many codes/coupons as I could find with mousesavers. One of the coupons had to be presented, so that prevented us from completing the on-line check-in where we could have completely bypassed the counter, so we tried the new kiosks. They were really simple to use, all touch-screen, basically just turning down all the extras that the staff used to try to upsell you on. You get a printout that you present along with your id and any coupons at the exit booth. Seemed pretty simple to me, but then again, there was no line-up at the kiosks, and very little line at the desk anyway.
I still try to avoid the line at all costs, but if the coupon is good, then sometimes we just have to suck it up. I'd do the kiosk again though. We'll see what happens in January.

Just got through priceline with $12 per day, saved us about $50 over Budget. We got Alamo. Total $152 compact car for 8 days end of August.

Wow! So glad you posted this as I have tried priceline before with no success and I have usually bid $12 to $13.

I just tried for end of August, 8 days and got the $11.00 per day at Alamo. 8 days for $133.52.

I'm a happy camper.
