Canadian VMK'ers not allowed in contest

I got a little upset when I found out that to win the Ipod nano contest,you must:

3. LIMITATIONS: All entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM, December 22, 2005. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the e-mail Address is registered. Entries by any method other than set forth above in Section 2 are void. Any use of automated or programmed methods of effecting entry on-line is prohibited. Open only to persons who are legal residents of the 50 states or D.C. ("Territory") and not employees of Sponsor, their respective parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies; or the advertising, promotional or fulfillment agencies of any of them (individually and collectively, "Entities"); nor members of their households or immediate families.



I don't find this fair considering that there are many Canadian VMK'ers as well as many from the UK and other countries.VMK staff should get the hints too,like take the names of players for example.Take canadian,is that obvious or what?(Sorry to use your name canadian)

I am sure many people feel the same way,after my friends mother was reading the rules of the contest and came to this great dissapointment.Meanwhile,we have to wait until staff gets the hint .

Many contests are run this way...

It avoids the problems of sending things over the borders and any problems involved with that. This way they only have one set of regulations to follow from the country of origin.

I agree- it would be nice if it was open- but I would say that probably 75% of all contests like this one with all US companies runs just like that- open only to residents of USA and territories (usually includes Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands) but others are just the US states- and some are just continental US states- leaving Hawaii and in some cases Alaska out too.

Write to VMK and complain.
