Hello All ~ I am beginning to plan our family's trip to the UK. One of the places I can not wait to see is Stonehenge. I understand that there are special tours that can be booked for seeing the stones up close. Can anyone recommend a good tour company. Thank you! Sandra

Hi Sandra

Sorry, I don't know any tour companies for Stonehenge myself, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip!

Thank you! We are going to WDW in April 2006. That will likely be our last trip to WDW for a while. We want to consentrate our planning on a UK trip! My kids are 6 and 12. I think they will soon be ready for a UK trip. I can't wait. I feel like I'll be "going home" even thou I've never been to England. I'm drawn there. My grandparents are from the UK and we still have family there. I'm looking forward to the planning process too! Blessings, Sandra

I am not sure of any specific companies that run tours to Stonehenge, I went last year while we were in Bath for the weekend but we drove.

If you would be staying in a nearby Town/City I am sure they would have coach trips out.

A few years ago I went on a combined Salisbury/Stonehenge/Bath tour with Frames Rickards. I had a terrific time. Most of the tour was spent in Bath; we had about 45 minutes or so at Stonehenge, which was enough for me. Frames might not do the same tour anymore, but I can't imagine they wouldn't fit Stonehenge in somehow. I've done other tours with Frames as well, and I've always been pleased.

I've also heard really good things about Astral Travels. They are a smaller tour company (vans instead of coaches) and you might be able to spend longer at Stonehenge.

Good luck!

P.S. If I got either of the hyperlinks wrong, just try Googling the tour company names. :teeth:

The main thing with Stonehenge is getting there, once your there you get a self-guided tour with your entrance.

Be aware, it's in a field next to 2 main roads!! very disillusioning the 1st time.
