Canadian Money Question

Hey there-- I have a question for anyone in the "know". I have a ton-- at least $200-300 worth of Canadian quarters, dimes, and such. DH travels back and forth through Canada 4-5 times a week for work. He just lets it builds up an wants nothing to do with it again. So, I'm wondering--- here in the states at the grocery stores we have machines you dump the change into. Then it gives you a slip to take to the cashier and you get your money. I think it's called coinstar or something like that. Anyhow, do you have something like that???? We're not that far from the border but I don't want to go up there not knowing what I'm going to do with this money. I guess worse case I keep tellling DH I can at least take the quarters to the casino up there- but he just makes a face over that one.

I wouldn't think the American Coinstars take Canadian coins.

I was just in Toronto, and in Dominion's Market I saw CoinStars just like the ones here, so you can try that. But with any bad luck whatsoever, you will get back nothing but loonies lol

The change machines here will give you a receipt which you then take to the cashier in the grocery store and they will give you back the cash however you wish it. It will still be in CAD dollars however..Will the bank there not convert it for you?

Thank you-- it sounds like they have the machines just like we do here too. I would have to take the time to roll it then take it to a bank that will accept it. It's so much easier when I have American change to dump it in the coinstar machine at the grocery store. So, I'd like to do that in Canada w/ my Canadian change.

I figured I'd get Canadian back. Which is fine. We are about 50 minutes from Niagara Falls and love eating at the Rainforest Cafe there. I could just see there faces when I pulled out my sack of quarters, dimes and such.....
