Hello:

Just a thought, with the exchange rate, is it worthwhile to buy into a dvc for future disney trips, or better to try and rent someone's points when we go to wdw.

We go there every two years also.

Thanks,

Deb.

Hi there,

We bought in from Scotland 5 years ago and it is well worth it, you will never regret it. We have three sets of friends who have also bought in.

Hi! I'm from NS here..
If you plan to go regularly, especially with the exchange now, DVC can't be beat.. it's definitely the best deal if you plan to stay onsight, bar none.
If you plan to go every 2 years, 150 points would be fine.. you can borrow every second year for 300 points and be able to get a 2BR pretty much anywhere anytime of the year for a week (if you can book. :) ) We've been down twice since October and LOVE Saratoga Springs, but are considering a VWL addon in a few years. The wife loves the atmosphere. Now that we know about how DVC works, the benefits, etc, we wish we had done it sooner!

Hi: Where do you find prices and info without having a rep contact us. Also if you buy in one resort say old key west, is that where we would have to stay each time or can you stay in any of the dvc resorts at wdw?

Thanks for the info,

Deb.

Hi cottontail, if you buy at OKW that's where you can make ressies 11 months out, but at the 7 month date from your check-out, you can try for any DVC resort if you wish.

Not that I've found. But give them a call and ask for the "real" package will all the pricing and other information. They're pretty low pressure and won't try to talk you into it. I can tell you that SSR is at $95 per point right now and a special ends on Monday that can give you $10 off per point that can be added to your deposit.

You can purchase resale as well.. you can find pretty much any resort for $80ish/point.. you can stay at any resort, you just get home resort reservation priority 11 months out instead of 7 everywhere else. This is really helpful when you want to stay at the busy times of year.

I love the idea of being able to stay at a deluxe resort for a "price" cheaper than a value for years and years and years. ;) If you have any questions please PM me and I'll try to provide any information I can!

I don't know if this is still being done but I heard there are hotels/motels that are treating the canadian dollar as us dollars. If this is the case you may be buying DVC at a premium. As far as I know they treat canadian money as candian.

DVC is definitely a premium no matter which way you look at it, Canadian Exchange or not. There are better deals on different timeshares out there, it's just if you want to be able to enjoy a Disney vacation everytime (staying in a deluxe resort, onsite, with the possibility of an exchange here and there) you won't find a better deal than DVC.
