she also gave me her direct 1800 number so i don't understand those 2 comments - why can't you talk to your DVC guide? and why do you think they won't sell direct to you?

You can talk with them as they are registered to sell in Ontario. I can't because I'm in another province.

Okay, I've made the decision. Talked to my bank and they are on board with the plan and see no difficulties. I'm going to go through the Time Share Store and am already in touch with Jamie, who has been great. Just waiting for the right contract!

Just got back last night from our HOME away from HOME at SSR. We are looking to add onto our exsisting contract as well...at Animal Kingdom Lodge possibly (the rooms are gorgeous but decorated very dark....looks nice though). We bought directly through WDW because 3 years ago our contract was good for 50 years. We will transfer this to our DD eventually. Too bad about the location thing for you...the guides are great...it took Larry Hope our DVC guide 4 trips to convince us to buy....we just stopped in the other day to say Hi and yup he remembers us. Still jokes about how long it took! We are believers and my parents just spent last weekend with us at SSR on there way home from Ft.Myers and now they are belivers too! They thougt it was another "time share" scam.....not anymore! Enjoy your contract!

Royal Bank also has a US version in Florida called RBC Centura. We set up a chequing account and have our Dues and finance payments withdrawn from there. Our US account is linked to our Canadian RBC accounts and I can move money between them with internet banking.

We live in BC too and fly out of Seattle, it is much cheaper to do so and don't have to deal with customs at the airport. We have an Alaska Airlines Mastercard and use it for everything to collect points. The great thing about Alaska's card is that you get a $50 companion fare certificate every year when you buy one fare, so my husband gets his fare ($450US) and it's only $50 for me. We pay our dues with our credit card to get more points towards free flights.

Since we have become members, we have gone twice a year!

Hope to see more Western Canadians become "home" owners.

I just had an offer accepted for 100 points at SSR ($83/point). Just have to file the paperwork and pay! Oh yeah, and wait for the whole ROFR process.
