Canadian Dollar

I paid off mine last week at 86 cents (who knows what my BMO Mastercard will charge me??) It's been fluctuating so much, one day of bad news down it goes, one day good news, up it goes. I also bought my US funds back in June when it was 86 cents & it shot up to 92 the next week, my luck is BAD!

Paid off our trip last week and fortunately had enough tucked away in the US bank account to cover as we bought enough last time it went to parity, but now it’s almost depleted! Hoping for good rate by the time we go in late August so I can have some spending cash on hand. Waiting to see if it goes to parity in the latter part of the year because will be sure to tuck away some more hopefully for a Disney cruise next time.

Have you been looking online at www.xe.com ? My TA said it is updated more oftain than the banks do.

My brother works for a Credit Union in Saskatoon and said that they only update there rates and the beginning of the day from yesterday's closing rate.

So if you noticed that the rate was high today but dropped overnight/morning, you still have that day to get the better rate. He said they don't exchange a lot of CAD-US dollars so they don't worry but it may save you a couple bucks if your local credit union does the same.

I put a DCL payment on my BMO MC and the exchange rate on Thursday was 1.1624 on my credit card account and I think the bank rate a was about 1.145. So it is about 2cents on the dollar above the bank rate for a credit card.

According to xe the dollar this morning is at .89811 or 1.11345 for those that do it the other way. Keep on going - we leave for our cruise in 3 weeks - I switched over $1000 when the dollar was at 1.08 exchange a while ago and it would be nice to switch the rest at such a great rate!!

I just want to confirm what I read. I booked my package in March and made the $200 deposit. I paid off the balance on Wednesday. The exchange rate for both will be the same?

You pay the current exchange rate on the day that you pay. So, if the exchange rate on the day in March that you paid your deposit happened to be the same as the exchange rate on Wednesday when you paid off the balance, then yes, you paid the same exchange rate. Otherwise, no. I hope that makes sense :)

Come on dollar! Our trip is paid for but I'd like to get a good exchange rate for our spending $$$!

and as my luck would have it, I had to pay my balance off on the weekend for our August trip before it started to climb. I figure it cost me about $180 extra than it would have today :guilty:

Me too :sad1:

But we are spending 2 weeks before WDW Touring around Florida and have to get rental car so hope it keeps climbing :cheer2: go loonie! Par!!

She's on the rise again today.....the online exchange rate this morning with TD was 1.12990

Go Baby GO !!!!!! :cool1:

Follow the thumb :thumbsup2

She closed yesterday at .9035! We broke the .90 mark!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
I'm getting ready to book our 2010 trip soon. If only she can hit that .95 mark.

Woohoo! I've got about two weeks til we pay off our package...now I have to start the should-I-wait debate! I was hoping for 90 cents... :scratchin

I had 3 more weeks grace to pay off and decided now or never. Kind of balances out because when we went to Disneyland last year February our dollar was 1.10.

Go Dollar...go dollar...go:banana:

I heard on the news today that they expect the $$ to rise, but when it gets to $.95 the govt will try to stop it from going higher.

I too am watching the $ with great interest. I have been told that by the end of the Summer we could be close to par. I have booked my trip and placed the minimum $200.00 deposit. Here is my dilema I have been reading that the rumour is ticket prices will be going up first weekend of August. Now I have read somewhere that until I pay my package in full the prices are subject to change. So I am wondering if they increase ticket prices and it affects the package I have already booked than waiting for the dollar to increase further will be fruitless. Has anyone had experience with this?

Whatever your package price is when you book and pay the $200 deposit, that is what you pay, regardless if the prices increase before you pay it off. No worries.:thumbsup2

Well I did it! I paid off my trip at 90 cents yesterday. I still have 3 weeks but I got nervous. With my luck it would go back down. So I think 90 cents isn't too bad at all!

Yeah. I have already paid off the trip but was going to take a $100 US each month before we leave, for spending cash. But today when I got the first $100 for $112, I picked up 200 more. Good deal to go with the FD pin.
