So we went to the grand re-opening of the West Edmonton Mall Disney Store today and the store looks quite good, very similar to the US counterparts. The top area is just decorated with silouhette murals, cool but not quite as nice as the animations you see at many US locations. I'm not a fan of the new entry, it's a pretty standard run-of-the-mill doorway whereas the old location was shaped like Mickey. Still, it's nice to see better shelving and displays, many of the shelve double as play areas which is kind of cool.
What is NOT cool is the pricing.
I expect to pay more for stuff here in Canada. Even though our dollar is worth more, our overhead is more and our taxes are higher. However, the price tags on some of the dresses were: "$24.95 US, $35.95 CAN"

50% MORE!!
And that's an average price difference from all the items I checked.
That's pretty ridiculous! Looks like we'll be waiting for trips south of the border to buy things unless they bring their pricing more inline.
