We are leaving on Saturday, Oct 21 for the Canadian cruise on the Magic. I'm trying to figure out what kind of clothes to pack.

For those recent Canadian cruisers how was the weather? Would a fleece and a windbreaker be warm enough for days at sea and excursions to PEI and Nova Scotia? or do you recommend a winter coat? hat? gloves?

How were the seas? I've never cruised up north and was wondering if the ocean was rough in that area. I'm thinking of starting the Bonine two days before we leave so that I can be prepared.

Have the leaves changed color in Canada yet? Will we see some beautiful fall colors? We are in PA and our leaves haven't changed yet - it's a really late fall this year.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Less than a week to go! Whoo hoo!

Haven't done the cruise but I live in Nova Scotia. Our leaves are about half way in changing colours. I have not pulled out winter clothes yet but did wear a fleece a couple of days last week. Temps can vary widely day to day at this time of year so layers are key. It could start out close to freezing in the morning and end up in the 70's by the afternoon lol. Rain is also a possibility this time of year so always be prepared for that.

Thanks Bbangel - your comments are very helpful. I'm so excited to see your beautiful province!

disgreat, DW and I are on the same cruise. We will have layers on as bbangel suggests. The second port day is the one with the greater forecasted chance of rain (60%). Of course, we know how reliable weather forecasting can be!!

Sydney 2 days ago was freezing and windy.
Yesterday Halifax was quite warm and occasionally sunny.
New Brunswick today is somewhere between the two.
I'm surviving with layers and jacket and a scarf...

Last night (3am) our ship wasn't just rocking, it was bouncing. But three weeks up this way and that's been the worst it's been pretty calm.

We just did a NE/Canada cruise two weeks ago - I was comfortable in capris with a t-shirt and either rain jacket or flannel hoodie. It's my favorite itinerary and I prefer it over the Caribbean even (I'm originally a New England girl, so of course that's where my heart is). We were told in a couple of the ports that the leaves were going to be in full "bloom" because the warmer temps were messing with it all. We saw a lot of trees with no leaves -- like they just gave up LOL, but it was still pretty. Saw a lot of yellow, but no orange or red!
