According to the menu it says it's made from Moosehead beer. I was wondering if anybody knows if the alcohol has been cooked out of it, and if it has a strong beer taste to it. My wife and I don't drink, but I know that my wife loves soups. If you've had this before, I was wondering what you think about it.
Thanks in advance.

Almost 100% sure its cooked out, i dont remeber it haveing the slightest taste of beer, and i hate beer!

The beer is cooked out--even kids eat the soup. It is a good soup, and I don't find the beer flavor to be overpowering. If you order it, try dipping your pretzel bread in the soup. The pretzel bread mixes well with the cheese. :goodvibes

I made the soup at home a few of times. We like it, but it's so high-fat that once/year is about how frequently I'll make it.

We order this every trip and I've never tasted the beer. This is one of the best dishes in WDW.

We tried it after reading the rave reviews here on the DIS.... didn't care for it. Didn't taste the beer just didn't care for the taste in general. I liked the barley soup much better.

Sorry.

No beer taste, but we've found it uneven. Had it the one time we ate in LC, didn't like it--kind of watery and bland. Had it at last year's F&WF--omg! It was thick, rich and delish! I had to go back for seconds. It was freezing out that day, which probably helped. So, if you don't like it once, you might like it twice.

But, anyway, to the OP. I despise beer and it had no discernable beer taste whatsoever--either time. Enjoy!

I cannot stand beer and I love this soup! No alcohol taste to it, just a nice smokey cheese taste

I don't drink beer, like this soup, but CAN taste the beer - sharp cheddar cheese is one of the few things that makes hops tolerable to me as a taste. Its beer cheese soup - why would you add beer if you couldn't taste it?

As yearbook says, any time you add alcohol, you never cook all of it out. However, you'd get fat before you get drunk on beer cheese soup.

Gf and myself are addicted to that soup!!

I'm deffinately not a beer drinker -- but i'll take a rum and coke !

You know, Disney Dining is generally so accommodating that I think if you let them know in advance that you don't/won't/can't imbibe alcohol in any degree, they'd make it with non-alcoholic beer for you.
