Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

I know that Space Mountain is rough, so when I got my DH to ride it this past trip, I requested the front of the train. The ride is much smoother up there. As a single rider, I frequently get put in the last seat. That seat is too bouncy for my back. So, now, you too know the rollercoaster riding secret. Althought I highly recommend the back of the train on 7DMT.

Okay, I got your guess...
And I also got that you're saying @laura74 has gas.

Thanks!
And have fun at work, I'm off until Thursday.

Sorry Laura, having trouble getting the right words on this tab. Must be "rich text " whatever. (I have no idea) :confused3 as soon as I saw my post tonight I knew Pont would have fun with it:rotfl: that's what makes him Canadian. I mean fun.

Oh? Front of the train, huh?
Wait... You're talking about BTMRR or Space here?
First car in Space?

Wasn't that a Desoto?

No... it was the Lunar Rover.

I thought Rover was a dog?
How do you train a dog to lunar?
What does that even mean?
You can train him to sit, though.

You're saying Space Mountain is a dog of a rollercoaster and to stay seated.

Okay! Glad we got that all straightened out.

Sorry Laura, having trouble getting the right words on this tab.

Oh, no. I thought it was just right.

as soon as I saw my post tonight I knew Pont would have fun with it

::yes::
You just keep tossing 'em up and I'll keep knocking them outta the park.

that's what makes him Canadian. I mean fun.

And again.... ::yes::

Ok, 26. Noted. It's a lot. But then again you warned me of excessive verbosity. (Don't let me fool you. I love it.) But THAT, my friend, is going to take a crapload of time to read, and I'm in the middle of an hour and a half online lecture. Bedtime reading in a bit....

But, I gotta tell ya, my last TR was actually called...

wait for it...

Pee Before Pooh.

(We think scarily alike...)

Holy heck! I got a point?!

And for big butts. WOW! I never saw THAT one coming!

I get that. I could not convince either of my DDs (4 & 8 at the time) to go anywhere near it.
And I was okay with that.

I was there to make sure they had a wonderful time...
not be bullied into doing something they clearly didn't want to.

Well, I agree with you in theory, but there was that one trip...
When we (daughter #2 and granddaughter#2, a mother/daughter combo) took my younger grandson, who was 8 at the time, he started out as a Debbie Downer, determined to not have a good time. He had been throwing insulting comments at daughter #2, his aunt, for several weeks in an effort to get himself uninvited - no idea why except maybe a personally quirk. So I made him come. We get to WDW and he claims to dislike drops, coasters, fast rides, etc. On the phone, his mom and dad said totally untrue - it must be a phase. I made him wear a birthday pin (the trip was his birthday present from me, but 3 months after the date) which got him several comments, and we all wore Perry shirts, which garnered more nice comments from CMs. I took him on Barnstormer first and watched the transformation. Then we tried both Splash and Btmrr and had to take him off at the last minute he was crying so hard. I called his dad and he told me he had ridden similar things, to try it again and make him stay on the rides. He ended up loving these and riding over and over late in the evening when they were walk-ons. The next day on my son-in-law's advice we tried Space Mtn - gigantic mistake! He cried all the way through.

He loved everything else (we steered clear of EE or RnRC), though, and all those comments from CMs gave him a big smile. My older daughter said she could tell how far into the trip each picture was taken by the size of his smiles. I thought I was going to lose my "fun grandma" designation for a minute there. Well, it still haunts me.

Oh you noticed that did you?

:rolleyes1

But then again you warned me of excessive verbosity.

I did! So don't blame me....
Wait... I wrote it.

Oh, go ahead and blame me.

(Don't let me fool you. I love it.)

<phew!> :scared:

But THAT, my friend, is going to take a crapload of time to read, and I'm in the middle of an hour and a half online lecture. Bedtime reading in a bit....

But you did so well on your exam!
You could've taken the four hours off that it takes to read that chapter.

No?

But, I gotta tell ya, my last TR was actually called...

wait for it...

Pee Before Pooh.

:lmao: No WAY!!

(We think scarily alike...)

This does not bode well...... for you!

Holy heck! I got a point?!

And for big butts. WOW! I never saw THAT one coming!

Oh, no?
You're the one with the butt fascination after all.

:rolleyes2

That's basically an extra couple of stressful hours added to your day. I get it - I commute, too.

Mine is 30ish minutes each way.
Which isn't bad... but when you're getting up to an hour or more...

Well, I agree with you in theory, but there was that one trip...

Oh?

Huh. Well, just never mind me then!

Of course every parent (or Grandparent) knows their child better than anyone else.
And if they knew it was a phase and making him go would turn out well...

I've just seen too many parents forcing their kid to do something they clearly don't want to do
because they paid good money to be there and that's it! You're going!

(Fast forward 20 years...
"Honey, why are you so terrified of coasters?"
"I think it's because my jerk of a dad forced me to ride them when I was little.")

But.... every situation's different.
I knew my kids well enough that if they said no to a ride that they weren't ready.
And it turned out fine since they rode everything when we went back four years later.

My older daughter said she could tell how far into the trip each picture was taken by the size of his smiles.

 Awwww...

I thought I was going to lose my "fun grandma" designation for a minute there. Well, it still haunts me.

Whoa. I can see how that would be traumatic for you.

No more creepy than a major violation of your personal space.

Maybe he just wanted a hug?
Tall people have feelings too you know.

Um... I'm gonna say no... just hedging my bet.

Hmmmm......
We'll see how much to reward... or penalize you at the next contest update.

Welcome Show! I'm glad you got to take the time to see it and Main Street. I hope to see it for the first time ever this trip, too. I think I share your thoughts about FP+. I like it. ::yes::

You've got me really looking forward to riding Peter Pan. I think we rode it the first time we went, I don't even remember it. And it's not a ride that usually gets a lot of attention. I got a FP+ just because I know the wait time gets long. Maybe we'll get a chance to do it twice to see the queue.

I don't think I'd heard that whole urban legend about POC. The last time we were at MK we never got to ride it because every time we were near it happened to be down. I wonder if some silly guest invoked George. :confused3

I can't believe you took a picture with the flash on. :sad2: ;)

I don't have a chance with the contest this late in the game but I'mma say CHH. :wave2:

We're allowed to guess more than one restaurant? I think Andy is cheating! Not fair! You could of went to Cosmic Ray's and got the chicken and rib combo but I didn't say that was my second guess.
So when's your next trip? Wanna bring the kids to Cedar Point?

The MK welcome show is pure magic. Just looking at your pictures gets me all kinds of happy.

They just banned those sticks on rides, meaning part of my job is now to yell at people who use them on rides.

I'm SO excited to see the new Peter Pan queue!!

See, I always have to say hi to George, and the one time I didn't, we got absolutely drenched on the drop. You're not supposed to get soaked on Pirates!!

Yayyyy bonus point for knowing things!

I'm guessing you got chicken nuggets at Columbia Harbour House!

I enjoyed just relaxing and watching it.
It was a great way to start the day!

And the only way I was going to do that was with a FP all set up and ready to go.
(Instead of sprinting for one.)

You've got me really looking forward to riding Peter Pan.

You should! I must admit, that while I enjoy the entire ride,
nothing, and I mean nothing beats that leaving the rail part
and soaring over London.

I think we rode it the first time we went, I don't even remember it.

Don't. Remember. It.

:faint:

And it's not a ride that usually gets a lot of attention. I got a FP+ just because I know the wait time gets long.

It doesn't get a lot of press, but it's always got a huge wait.

Maybe we'll get a chance to do it twice to see the queue.

Don't miss the queue (unless the wait is longer than half an hour... At least, that's my cut off.)

I don't think I'd heard that whole urban legend about POC. The last time we were at MK we never got to ride it because every time we were near it happened to be down. I wonder if some silly guest invoked George. :confused3

Either that or some newbie CM for got to say goodmorning or goodnight.
Either way. Snub him at your peril.

I can't believe you took a picture with the flash on. :sad2: ;)

I own a Harley.
I'm a bad boy.

I don't have a chance with the contest this late in the game but I'mma say CHH. :wave2:

You have a very good chance.
I've only posted one of four never before seen pictures.
Plus there should be a bunch more bonus points available.

We're allowed to guess more than one restaurant? I think Andy is cheating! Not fair! You could of went to Cosmic Ray's and got the chicken and rib combo but I didn't say that was my second guess.

Do you want it to be?
I'm thinking maybe you can have two guesses....
But only get half the points if you're right?

Who knows.
I'm making this up as I go along.
My TR. My rules! :lmao:

So when's your next trip? Wanna bring the kids to Cedar Point?

June. Toronto.
September. Vegas.
January or February (I hope). WDW.

The MK welcome show is pure magic. Just looking at your pictures gets me all kinds of happy.

Glad I could make you happy!
My job is done here.
TR's over folks! You can all go home now!

They just banned those sticks on rides, meaning part of my job is now to yell at people who use them on rides.

Yes! And if you should happen to confiscate them and snap them in two,
that would be okay, too.

I'm SO excited to see the new Peter Pan queue!!

It really was good!
Make sure you wait for the shadow butterflies and hold your hand up and keep it still.
One should land on your hand's shadow.

See, I always have to say hi to George, and the one time I didn't, we got absolutely drenched on the drop. You're not supposed to get soaked on Pirates!!

So there you go.
If that's not proof, what is?

Yayyyy bonus point for knowing things!

::yes::

I'm guessing you got chicken nuggets at Columbia Harbour House!

Ok. Got it.
We'll see how you did.

Oh you noticed that did you?

:rolleyes1

How could I not? :lmao:

I did! So don't blame me....
Wait... I wrote it.

Oh, go ahead and blame me.

Now that I have permission...

Oh, oopsies, I already did! ::yes::

But you did so well on your exam!
You could've taken the four hours off that it takes to read that chapter.

No?

Ummmmmm.....

NO!

Told you. It's scary.

This does not bode well...... for you!

Run away, run away :scared:

Oh, no?
You're the one with the butt fascination after all.

I blame it on all TRs past; now they just seem to beg a hindend shot or two. Kinda incomplete without one.

Vegas? Why is this the first I'm hearing of this? Have you seen my siggie? We were thinking about going in September this fall too. Until we had to spend all our money on my new car.

September. Vegas.

That's where I'm going this Saturday - to visit my parents, who are just outside Vegas. But this time I'm going to spend a night in Vegas and play tourist on the Strip.

Vegas? Why is this the first I'm hearing of this? Have you seen my siggie?

Aw, I love Vegas. I don't gamble or drink but love to walk around and see the sites, although I really very very seldom stay in Vegas. The last couple of trips I have stopped on the Strip to hit a buffet for breakfast before driving to Mom and Dad's.
My siggie should have an endless list of years dash Mom & Dad's.

How could I not? :lmao:

And yet it was so.... subtle.

Ummmmmm.....

NO!

You're right.
Four hours wouldn't have been enough.
Next time, right before an exam, take six hours off to read it.

Run away, run away :scared:

Wait.
Did you just quote Monty Python at me?

I think I'm in love.

Vegas? Why is this the first I'm hearing of this?

There is a very sound an logical reason why this is the first you're hearing of this.

And that reason might possibly be because this the first time I've mentioned it.

Have you seen my siggie?

Why? Is your siggie lost?

Here siggie!
Here girl!

C'mon siggie! Where are you!

Siggie! Siiiiiiiiiiggiiiiiieeee!!!

There she is!!!
I found your siggie!
It's right below the dashed line in your post!!!!

You're welcome.

We were thinking about going in September this fall too. Until we had to spend all our money on my new car.

Funny how a new car will take away from your savings. :rolleyes1
We wouldn't be going except Ruby's work is sending her for a conference.
So I can't pass up the chance to go when the hotel is free.

That's where I'm going this Saturday - to visit my parents, who are just outside Vegas. But this time I'm going to spend a night in Vegas and play tourist on the Strip.

You go girl. Have fun! Live a little!

Aw, I love Vegas. I don't gamble or drink but love to walk around and see the sites, although I really very very seldom stay in Vegas. The last couple of trips I have stopped on the Strip to hit a buffet for breakfast before driving to Mom and Dad's.

We love Vegas too, but we've only been a couple of times.
We've yet to see Fremont St.
Something we plan to rectify this trip.

My siggie should have an endless list of years dash Mom & Dad's.

I think the Dis has a limit on the size of your siggie.
(At least yours isn't lost... although I'm good at finding them.)
Pretty sure an endless list might be a tad too long.

Ok, ha ha, you found my siggie. Now, did you read it?
I love the strip! And buffets!!
Where are you staying? Gonna zip line down Fremont Street?

Ok, ha ha, you found my siggie. Now, did you read it?

Oh. Was I supposed to read it too?

Of course I read it. Haven't stayed at any of those.
We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental (OMG. What a beautiful place to stay.)
and then I went solo and stayed at Paris.

I love the strip! And buffets!!

You love to strip at Jimmy Buffett's?
I didn't know they had that kind of entertainment there,
and I certainly didn't expect you to admit doing that.

Not judging.
Just surprised.

Where are you staying? Gonna zip line down Fremont Street?

Don't know where we'll be staying.
That's up to Ruby's work I guess.
But wherever it'll be, it won't cost me anything
so I'm pretty sure I'll be okay with it.

I don't know if we'll zip line or not.
We've done Whistler BC which was a blast.
But... been there done that maybe?
Dunno.
Haven't looked into anything yet, really.

it's never really a problem waking up when in Disney.
At least not for me, and I suspect, not for you, either.

Hmmm.:rolleyes1 What time is the breakfast cut off?

(Most Canadians are like this: ::yes::

Depends. I am not in the Florida cold (50s and below). To me there is NOTHING like the cold in the south. Seeps into you and you feel like you will never get warm. Here, I'm fine. I am never ever cold.

He plunked himself Right. In. Front. Of. Me.

I squisha his face. And I'm tall enough to do so Right. In. Front. Of. Him.

He said, "Oh! Sorry." and moved over out of my sightline.

Oh no, I'm so sorry for what I did. How can I make it up to him....

Soon, instead of being young, cute and the center of attention, you'll be old.

I LOVE old!

DSC08328_zps4izemy9p.jpg

Oh man, the best!

and just.... be.

How I have always done WDW. See breakfast cut off comment. The best!

Look! No snow!

Or mosquitoes. :stir:

A beauty.

Yup. Still long. People fidgeting, moaning, being devoured whole.

I have no idea now. Laughing. Did I say I love being old?

Oh I know! I know! I know! I just LOVE the FP line at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. In a totally evil, evil way!

And one of my FPs there hit Wishes at the same time. I can't even tell you how wonderful it was to do that ride with fireworks that you felt you could touch! Heigh ho!

I was still a fetus.

Seriously?

Seriously? I think you were wearing obnoxious clothes at this point. Maybe Cougar boots?

Pure unadulterated Disney magic.

YES!

(To whatever this was about.)

Love it.

And of course, the ride was just as magical as it had been
all those years ago.
I was a little kid again.
"Here we go!..."

Have I mentioned how much I love this place?

OMG, it so is.

Oh! Right. A five minute standby time!

Score.

HM... The best ride on this world or any other.

And I passed it by.

What! What?! How could you do that? It is the best.

Okay I read, I read on.

lisaviolet - 1 point for being envious that I own a Harley.

I would give points just, sigh. I. Would. Give. Points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gorgeous shot.

I'm not that crazy about it.

I have no clue. :bored: I am old.

I'd never leave, given a choice.

In short order, I was kicked out of the mansion.

My favourite part - the mini ghost at the end. MY VERY VERY FAVOURITE. Well, the ballroom..... the knocking door....

It's those little touches. Man I love 'em.

Sighing. Yes.

On the contrary!
I love when that happens!

Sighing. Yes.

There she is. I LOVE HER.

Thanks for reading!! :goodvibes

Thanks for writing!

Whoa!! Hecka update!

Perfectly said.

Nobody said this would be easy!

:rolleyes1

Sheryl Crow. Coldplay. Sheryl Crow is a little off, but I'm going for a listen.

I’m in the lead! I’m in the lead!

I mean, great job everyone!

Hysterical! :rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl:

Well done Laura. Humour AND points.

I have no idea what you mean?
Care to elaborate???

Hysterical part deux.[/quote]

Hey, I think I actually caught up! I know I just jinxed myself with that.

Your real life car stories...:faint: I think you just convinced me to sell my car and never look back.

Except one day isn't enough for Epcot.

Truth!

Hmmm... currently 53F (12C) with a high of 65F (18C).
Great! I don't need a jacket.
Shorts and a T-shirt are all I need.
(Most Canadians are like this: ::yes:: All warmer climate folks are like this: :sad2: or possibly )

I think I'd be in the :sad2: group.

Well..... To heck with logic!
I can't wait three days to get to MK!!!!

Actually, I can see the logic in that!

Those kids have no idea just how lucky they are.
Soak it in kids. Soak it in.
Soon, instead of being young, cute and the center of attention, you'll be old.
And tall people bereft of backpacks will stand in front of you.
Probably while waving a host of selfish sticks in the air.

Or they'll horn in on your spot after you arrived there first.

And yes.
I know.
There are some of you who are saying "I've seen better pictures."
Some may say "I've seen that same shot with an empty park."
Some will say "There's construction on Main St. marring the view."
Some will say "The man right in front, or the woman and girl he's photographing are distracting."
Some may say other criticisms which I haven't even thought of...

And to those I say, humbly and respectfully...
Shut the heck up. (And I wouldn't say "heck", either.)

I can't say any of those things, because that view beats any view I had today.

The above is only a fraction of the line that had already formed.
Of course there was that part that was already through the turnstiles
and winding its interminable way through the zig-zag maze.

:faint:

You can actually turn to someone and say "Urine the Poo line."
And you could get away with it.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Would I ride it again?
You bet!
Will it supplant BTMRR as one of my favourite MK rides?

That's ok. As long as it's not another IASW, we all come out ahead.

I want to be a Disney Imagineer.

::yes:: Halfway through my career, this is still my dream job.

Tinkerbell suddenly appears and pops into a wall sconce.
And then, if you're lucky, she showers you with pixie dust.

Way cool!

I looked up....
and....

Oh, God....

I saw... I... I saw.....

It.

http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/

If you're really observant, you might notice that the top isn't quite perfect.
Gimme a break! I hadn't had a Dole Whip float in over five years!
Five years!!!
I wasn't even out of the line, heavenly golden concoction in hand,
before I stuffed a spoonful in my face.

Can't blame you in the least! Mine wouldn't have lasted that long either.

And never, ever marry anyone named Lucretia.

That's just asking for it, don't you think???

Yeah, that's got ax-murderer written all over it.

And then I decided, since we weren't moving anyway,
to break the rules a bit and take a flash photo.
Yeah, yeah. I'm a bad boy.

Wow! Three posts for one update!

I wonder if anyone actually read all that???

Um...yes. Every single word. :rolleyes1
