Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Oh! I think I made it back with only one 'real' update in between my last visit. (And yes, I am implying all those others aren't 'real')

A lovely last day.

Just one ear left in the cooler? I would have thought both would leave a bigger impression.

Ugh, that sugary sweet feeling in your tummy is the WORST. And there is really nothing to do but wait it out.

Beautiful views!!!!

And for the record, I'm not quite dead yet.

Wow. Look, I am actually near the top of the list!!!
Edited to add, but not close enough to the top to be included in the quote preview! Ha!

Next round:
(What? You thought you were done? Ha!)

1. We were supposed to arrive in Vancouver
at 7:18am. What time did we arrive?

2. Did we leave Vancouver on time?

3. Did you see it? Of course you did.
Did you see the other one?
Sure.

Did you see them all???

Now here's where it gets tricky.
You can absolutely wait for others
to do the heavy lifting.
"Yes! I saw them all!"
<copy and paste previous answer>

And by the time it's all said and done,
everyone will have the same answer.

Not so fast.

If you post the number of them you saw...
I'll deduct 40 points.
If you post what you saw...
I'll deduct 10 points per post.

So how do you tell me what you saw?
PM me.
It's the only way.

You want the prize?
The "culturally very important part of Hawaii" prize?
(And possibly a few chocolate bars if you're good.)
Then you're going to have to work for it!

I want details of every one you saw.

I'll post the wrap up and results
(and winner!) in a couple of weeks.
Hmmm... after I get back from Montreal, I think.
So around June 17th or so.
That should give everyone a chance to reply.
1. 40 Minutes late, so 7:58am
2. Yes
3. YES! I DID THIS TIME! PM on it's way . . .

**I made that up. How long did you spend
Googling that???? Bonus points if you tell me.
More Bonus points if you tell me if you knew
what this is about, without going back to look.

Nope, No Idea. Wow. Caught one thing, completely missed another!!

Home again, home again,
jiggity jig.

Got back late this afternoon.
Remember when I said I had some news?
Got even more when I got home.
Details coming up... probably Sunday.

I don't expect to be on here much tomorrow,
(although you never know.)

I've got to wrap this puppy up,
so I plan on ignoring the myriad
of TRs that I'm behind on
and take care of things here first.

Montreal was... interesting.
Very atypical trip, from my point of view.

Yes... I took some pictures.
Yes... I'll tell you alllll about it
if you're good little boys and girls.

Don't expect the wrap up
and contest winner too early though.
I won't even get to anything until Sunday
evening.
And I have to do shout-outs first.

Hey pkondz!

I'm not dead yet... Although you would be forgiven for thinking so since I haven't posted in so long.

Great to hear about your adventure in Hawaii... I've never really wanted to go but since I've been reading yours and others Hawaii trip reports I've been more curious. Maybe someday... After I travel across the country, travel Europe, make it to Disneyland etc.

Looking forward to hearing about Montreal... You know you'll do a trip report, even if it's a short one because you don't want to disappoint your fans!

Have a great evening,
Susan

just popping in to wish Ponzie and the rest of the dis dads happy father's day. getting an early start so we can head out to the house of mouse for a few hours before the heat gets crazy (expected to be well over a 100 today out here, but only 98 or 99 at Disneyland:rolleyes2) any way have a great day folks and again Happy Father's day to all of the great dads out there

So fluffy :love::love::love:

I'm a sucker for fur and fluff. It's a good thing I love Belle so much despite her short hair.

When she blows off her puppy coat, I'll bag it all and send it to you.
Just paste it on Belle.

Solved.

See, I can't not think in the ocean. So I just don't go in past my toes.

So what you're saying is....
you're toes are expendable.

You can get a gallon of gas by my house!

Should I swing by?

You jest, and yet a couple of weeks ago there was a news story from an eastern NC town where a woman bought a freezer from a yard sale and got it home to discover a dead body.

Ew?

Although the twisted part of my mind
(granted, it's the biggest part)
keeps thinking:
"Where's Bill? He said he was going to help?"

Yes. Preach. My biggest pet peeve when I worked at Dunkin Donuts was people who went through the drive thru and wanted to ask me about the menu. That's not what the drive thru is for, it's for people who know what they want and want it quickly.

::yes::

And that's why I don't use the drive through.
I want to see what donuts are there.
I don't want to go in the drive through
and sit there while I get the poor girl to tell
me every donut they have.

Heh...so this past weekend I made a pink lemonade cake. Basically you just add pink lemonade powder to boxed white cake mix. I might have gotten a little over zealous. But the good news is my in-laws will eat anything if I call it cake, so...it didn't go to waste

 "Oh this sounds horrible....
but the inlaws are coming... hmmm..."

You do math like me.

We should go into business together!
If we can just make a couple of hundred
a month, in a couple of years we'd
be millionaires!

This happened to me once! But seriously, what were the odds of finding another white 1992 Camry? Except my car wasn't actually in the parking lot. It had been towed, because we had permit parking and I was in the wrong lot and had forgotten to move it back to the proper lot. Not my finest day.

:lmao:

I'd normally say sorry about having your car towed...

But this is too funny!

I would do this. My friend and I rented a Mustang convertible to go the beach for a weekend. I started deliberately catching red lights just for the fun of accelerating when it turned green.

Will you marry me?

I'm not quite dead yet. Almost. But not quite.

Kind of like Josef Newgarden after his crash yesterday.....

That was scary.
I immediately flashed back to Dan Wheldon's crash.

On the upside...
I was a little sad that since we were leaving for Montreal,
I wasn't going to see the end of the race.
And then I find out it's postponed until August!

I wonder, though.....
Can they repair his car and would he be well enough
to re-start at the back of the field???

So...the one time I tried to do this, I was in Europe with a bunch of other travel agents. There was only one stall, and 5 of us needed to go, so one of us decided to use the men's instead. They opened the door.....and there was no toilet. Just a slightly sloping square that led to a hole.

We elected to wait for the women's room.

Oh, come on! Where's your sense of adventure!

And this is why I live in the southern US

And that's why I want to live
in the southern US
(at least in winter.)

7:50am

yes

I will.....as soon as I can get on my tablet and actually see the pictures. Work runs IE, and some pictures on the Dis load and others don't. Today is a don't.

Noted and... got the PM!

Can I have one anyway? You can't deny a girl chocolate!

Truthfully, I find it very difficult to say no
to a gorgeous woman.

If you win, it'll solve the problem.

I didn't Google at all. Had a strong enough suspicion it was a Dad joke. And yes, I know what it's about, because a)it was related to dogs and b)I used to always forget where footnotes were reading reference stuff in school so now I always make doubley sure to remember

::yes::

Well, I'm slowly climbing out of my swimming hole for air. Been a wild sort of dip these last few days. I know I don't have time to go back and read any of the chatter as much as I'd like to, but I think I'll be responsible and limit my frenzy of catching up.

I hear ya. Not to worry.
Maybe things will slow down now?

:lmao:

(I won't mention the cobbler that is also whispering sweet nothings in my ear.)

I saw that.... OMG. Want. Bad.

Your pump (situation) sucks. Or doesn't rather. Sorry about that. I'm about to spend the same on exterior paint for the house and a new kitchen floor.

It never ends.

But....

I'll PM you about my thoughts on another TR....

Got it.

I hope you have a blast!!!!:goodvibes Try and get some sleep on the plane!

Thanks! It was a different trip,
but just stopping for a bit was niiiiice.
I never sleep on planes, though.
Wish I could, but.... oh well.

get some sleep, have a great trip.

Thanks!

Jodi benson was amazing. her voice was just as clear as when she first sang the score. trying to write a small tr for the trip even if it was only a few days

Good to hear!
(no pun intended)
Both that you enjoyed it
and that she's still got it!

 Happy Father's Day!

Hope you get time to relax and enjoy your day.
Time for the tables to turn, I'm sure your girls will do something special for all that you do for them.
You're a pretty awesome dad!

Sorry it's been awhile, you may have to think hard to even remember who I am.
Kind of just fell off the grid a little. Had a draft of comments and guesses and never got back before you posted update.
Guess I went back to being shy and just followed along. (But confess I'm behind again)
The life sucking thing called work takes a lot of time(as you know). We've had retirements and more to come so working 6 day a week has been most of the norm this year.
We were told to plan on overtime. "Use and abuse me, I say, I have a Disney trip to pay for!"
My family is understanding of a very tired mom and wife. They know why.

Hope to get back to getting caught up and maybe some late comments.
I use to have my Ponzie afternoon time when I came home from work but having my daughter home from college is a happy distraction!

I have enjoyed your Hawaii trip and hope the cute additional of the family is being a good girl.
Have a great week!

Finally made it back here to comment.

Hi Dee!

It has been a very busy spring, with a lot of field trips to the farm and my son's HS graduation.

Saw that! :)

But,

"I'm not quiet dead yet"

Thank goodness!

First- enjoy your trip to Montreal.

Thanks!

My husband and I went to Montreal for Part 1 of our honeymoon, July 1986. Part II was Disneyworld, January 1987. We wanted to go somewhere cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

A two part honeymoon?
I wish we'd thought of that!

Second- Adorable dogs! Wow, Luna sure is a cutie.

She's a horrible, horrible creature, though.

I always like to hear about beach time. Sorry it was so windy and painful, but that's how you get those awesome waves.

Oh, it wasn't painful, the sand was drifting, not blowing.

We didn't try Local Boys for shave ice, so our only experience is with Ululani's. We liked it. But now, after your description, I am smiling because they told us if we encountered any dry spots, they would gladly add MORE syrup, free of charge.

I think they had that as a guarantee.
Except our guy really, really made sure
there were no white spots.

Really.

Really.

Thanks for taking us to Haleakala!

You're welcome!

We didn't make it there on our trip to Maui, but we did spend our last day in Hawaii exploring volcanoes as well.

Oh? Where was that? Big Island?

Gosh, with the $2.08 you saved with the waived cooler rental return fee and the $10 entrance fee, you could buy. Well, again, not much. Maybe another shave ice?

Um.... no.
I have to admit that my lust for shave ice
was greatly diminished after that last one.

Speaking of, so you follow-up sickly sweet shave ice with Krispy Kreme?

The sugar overdose had worn off enough
for me to do something stupid.

Contest- Vancouver, 9:30 am. PMing you.

Noted and got the PM!

I didn't spend anytime googling. I had to go back. Still didn't google.

:goodvibes:

:thumbsup2

Oh! I think I made it back with only one 'real' update in between my last visit. (And yes, I am implying all those others aren't 'real')

But those ones are "real life updates"!

A lovely last day.

It was! Despite the fact that we were leaving.

Just one ear left in the cooler? I would have thought both would leave a bigger impression.

Nope!
You leave one ear in the cooler.
They then spend the next hours/days/weeks
wondering when the other one will show up!

Ugh, that sugary sweet feeling in your tummy is the WORST. And there is really nothing to do but wait it out.

Yup. We were all feeling pretty gross.
But we got over it, as evidenced
by the stop at Krispy Kreme later.

Beautiful views!!!!

Thanks!

And for the record, I'm not quite dead yet.

That's good, otherwise this conversation
would've been very one-sided.

Wow. Look, I am actually near the top of the list!!!
Edited to add, but not close enough to the top to be included in the quote preview! Ha!

 I noticed that too!

1. 40 Minutes late, so 7:58am
2. Yes
3. YES! I DID THIS TIME! PM on it's way . . .

Noted and got the PM!

Nope, No Idea. Wow. Caught one thing, completely missed another!!

That happens.

Hey pkondz!

Hey there Suzy Q! Where ya been?

I'm not dead yet... Although you would be forgiven for thinking so since I haven't posted in so long.

It'd been so long I had to check.
October 13th.
Hope everything's okay your way?

Great to hear about your adventure in Hawaii...

Thanks! :)

I've never really wanted to go but since I've been reading yours and others Hawaii trip reports I've been more curious.

::yes:: The place is beautiful. This was our third trip.
(Second with the rugrats.)
And I wouldn't be surprised if we wind up there again.

Maybe someday... After I travel across the country, travel Europe, make it to Disneyland etc.

I'd pick Europe over Hawaii, but Hawaii over the Continental USA.

Looking forward to hearing about Montreal... You know you'll do a trip report, even if it's a short one because you don't want to disappoint your fans!

<sigh> You know me all too well.
It wasn't long after I got there
that I started thinking:
"This should go in the TR."

Have a great evening,

Thanks! You too!

just popping in to wish Ponzie and the rest of the dis dads happy father's day.

Thanks Betsey! :goodvibes

getting an early start so we can head out to the house of mouse for a few hours before the heat gets crazy (expected to be well over a 100 today out here, but only 98 or 99 at Disneyland:rolleyes2)

Over? Did you say over 100???

:faint:

any way have a great day folks and again Happy Father's day to all of the great dads out there

Thanks again! :)

 Happy Father's Day!

Thanks! :)

Hope you get time to relax and enjoy your day.

Well..... uh........

Time for the tables to turn, I'm sure your girls will do something special for all that you do for them.

Or not.
But that's what Dad's are used to.

You're a pretty awesome dad!

Nope. I just write myself that way.

Sorry it's been awhile, you may have to think hard to even remember who I am.

Not even for a second!
Of course I remember you!

Kind of just fell off the grid a little.

That's okay... provided it wasn't because you were ill
or something like that.

Speaking of which.... how's the tooth?
And did your DS get his car troubles sorted out?

Had a draft of comments and guesses and never got back before you posted update.

I do that sometimes.
Although I'm not as bad as I used to be...

And... update done.
Okay everyone! You have 15 minutes
before the next update!

Guess I went back to being shy and just followed along.

Oh, don't be shy! I enjoy everyone's comments!
Especially when someone tells me
they were going to spend their only day off with me! :goodvibes

(But confess I'm behind again)

What's this about your behind?

The life sucking thing called work takes a lot of time(as you know).

Oh, yes. I know.

I... know.

We've had retirements and more to come so working 6 day a week has been most of the norm this year.

I feel your pain.
Just got back from (mini) vacation.
I have three days off...
I'm working two of them and they called me
for the third (had to say know due other commitments.)

We were told to plan on overtime. "Use and abuse me, I say, I have a Disney trip to pay for!"

::yes::

My family is understanding of a very tired mom and wife. They know why.

I don't think mine does.
DW gets it... but the DDs??

I don't think so.

Hope to get back to getting caught up and maybe some late comments.

I hope you do too!

I use to have my Ponzie afternoon time when I came home from work but having my daughter home from college is a happy distraction!

I forgive you.
Family first!

I have enjoyed your Hawaii trip and hope the cute additional of the family is being a good girl.

Nope. She's a horrible, rotten, evil creature of darkness.

Lucky for her, she's too cute to be angry with.

Have a great week!

You too!

Happy Father's Day!:flower3:

Thanks! :goodvibes

Okay! That gets me all caught up with the shout-outs!
If you were missed, drop a comment
and tell me how stupid and insensitive I am.
(Like you need a reason to do that!)

Anway... barring any unforeseen oversights....

Let the tallying begin!

Oh? Where was that? Big Island?

Yes, we did an all day excursion on our last day on the Big Island before returning to the mainland. We left the resort at 7 am, had a one hour helicopter ride over the various volcanoes on the island, then we had a 5 hour land-based tour of Volcanoes National Park, followed by an hour long scenic helicopter tour along the scenic coastline. Returned back to our resort around 6 pm and then had an 11 pm red eye to San Francisco.

The excursion cost a pretty penny, but best excursion we have ever done.

:thumbsup2
