Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Bonus questions, round 3!
What park are we going to? (This should be an easy one... if you've read my last TR.)
Where's our ADR?
We get a new room! Where is it?
(Partial points for Which building, Which side, Which floor (you got a hint on that one)
example 50s, Lake view, 3rd floor)

OK, I'm back after having done my research, and I have a few comments for you.

Research includes making my way to page 18 of your solo trip report. I learned we have something in common, both suffering a milestone birthday within the last year! I'm enjoying reading about your solo adventures, and keep wishing that I could comment, but since that TR is all wrapped up, I guess I'll have to comment over here. You sure sashayed quite a bit. If I didn't know (guess) better, I would really wonder about you!

Also, you are good to have eaten all the Zebra Domes, nobody wants to be offered opened food from a stranger, and you probably got the better enjoyment anyways. There were tons of other things I wanted to say, but I can't remember. RnRC is my favorite Disney ride ever followed by CA Screamin. Both are launched coasters, totally different, but equally cool (although RnRC is just a squinch cooler due to the dark ride part and Aerosmith). Next for me would be DLR's SM because I will not ride MK's as it is far to jarring and just not fun. Same for BTMRR. After DLR's refurb, there is no reason for me to waste my ride time riding MK's when I can ride DLR's almost whenever I want and it's better!

So armed with new information, I'm going to guess that you visit Hollywood Studios.

Now the ADR, that's a little trickier. Do you go to 50's Prime Time because you liked it so much last time? Or do you go to Sci Fi because that's where Kay wants to go? I'm going to go with 50's Prime Time.

OK, the room, that's even more difficult. I've never stayed at Pop and I've never really even followed many TRs where people stayed there, or if they did, they didn't talk much about the resort. So I did more research, the interweb is good for that you know! :teacher:

I'm going to guess 50's, with a view of the Bowling Pool, and yes you again got the top floor.

That sounds terrible! Sounds like that (at least) is behind you guys?

It is. For now. But the state of the veins in her leg is a "condition", so there is always the risk of a recurrence, but so far it hasn't come back. Knock on wood. (hits head with fist). Ouch.

::yes:: I'm usually on a trip when I start thinking of the next one!

I've usually got three or four in the hopper in case we have to cancel. :rolleyes1

She started with the D flat clarinet,

I believe you mean B-flat clarinet.

OK, back to read the previous TR! :moped:..................................

I'm slow to arrive as usual, but did you take those photos of the superbloodymooneclipse? They are amazing.

That frozen goat is pretty funny. I was expecting something Frozen-themed but that it was an actual frozen goat is better.

top floor pool view, and 70's studios for the park and sci fi for adr. heading back to read the rest of the chapter just popping in to get my guesses in. oh and add my pic of ponzie heading out to the parks, btw we appreciate you lugging your camera gear as we all know lots of great pics are going to show up

Frolic? Frolic?? Frolic?!?!?!?
Who do you think I am???
Do you really, truly believe that I... moi... would frolic???

I reserve that for things like getting to go on HM or BTMRR or PP.

You’re right – I should never have suggested that you would frolic. I’m sure you’re much more of a gambol type of guy ;).

Terrific! I can't wait to see what I might win!
I think I've got a lock on this thing!

It’s a very prestigious award. The prize is yet to be determined but is most likely honour and bragging rights.

Not an ice cream on a blisteringly hot and muggy day kinda girl, huh?
(I'll take the Dole Whip too, actually. But don't tell anyone I said so!)

I felt it melted way too quickly in the heat and the ice-cream and chocolate were both pretty low quality.

You mean you wouldn't risk a fine and/or incarceration for me???

Fine? Yes. Incarceration? Maybe :confused3. My government job and security clearance? Not so much.

Hey! Your girl got up before time to leave! Nice job. I'm excited to be within a half hour and get close on one guess at least. Tell her next time she has my permission to sleep in so I can be right.

Nice start to your trip! I can't believe you didn't have a Mickey Bar before now. or I should say then. Pretty funny frozen goat I thought he must be pooping all over your shoe Good thing he just wanted a back scrstch.
I'm going back to look for clues before my next guess

Park: DHS
Ride: RNRC (I know this wasn't on the list, but it might count for bonus points?)
ADR: 50s Prime Time
BLG 70s pool view 3rd floor

It looked like she was farting puffy clouds.
:rotfl2::rotfl:

"Dad." She said. "I came to Disney with you. I don't want to ride by myself.
I want to ride with you!"
 Well how do you argue with that one?!?

Suffice to say the ride was a blast (as always)
and Kay was super excited to finally see the Yeti.
At least I think she was.
All I heard was "I see him!! I see him!!"
:rotfl::thumbsup2

Goat still hadn't moved a muscle.
Finally, we decided that we couldn't stay there all day
(did I mention it was hot? No?)
so I backed away from the goat and walked around it.
It still didn't move.
Kay took another pic but unfortunately accidentally deleted it.
But it would've looked like I'd photoshopped myself out of the picture.
That goat still hadn't moved!
We left the immobilized goat and moved on.
:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:I've heard that goats do this from time to time.

Kay wants one now.
I told her she could have a hedgehog when she moved out.
In fact, she could have as many animals as she wants.
:rotfl2: I'm with you on that one!

(Before you say I'm being mean, we already have a dog and two,
count 'em, two guinea pigs. It's enough!)
More flexible that DH and I! :faint: This is a no pet household. :crazy2:

We relaxed and watched the fishies as we munched.
It was a nice little spot.
And we could put our feet up!
Wonderful spot to eat a Mickey Bar.

Oh. And you people were right.
Those things are good!!
::yes::

Gracefulskinny - 9:00, EE, Dole Whip - 2 points

Gracefulskinny - 2 points for the Holy Grail

Gracefulskinny – 15 points
Not bad! :thumbsup2:woohoo:

Enjoying your trip report, great story telling, lovely pictures, and funny too!

Glad you're enjoying the ride!
And thanks for the nice compliments. Feel free to comment anytime! :rolleyes2

And :welcome: to the TR! :goodvibes

So I got myself ready to go, then woke Kay up at 9:30.
And she didn't complain. She just got up.
I must admit that I was a little surprised by that.
Pleasantly so, actually.
Considering the hour we got in earlier that morning.
Somebody call the newspaper. A teenager is woken up and doesn't complain??

"Okay, Kay. It's gonna be about an hour in line.
But we can do single rider line at EE."

"But I want to ride this one. I don't care if we have to wait."

So we waited.
What a good daddy you are!

She is like a lot of teens. Too cool for her parents.
But you'll notice in the shot below, that she's holding my hand.
So cute! Also, I love the varied expressions on the faces of people on this ride. They range from "OMG I'm going to be eaten by a Dinosaur!!!" to "Um, yea, okay "

It looked like she was farting puffy clouds.
:rotfl2:

"Dad." She said. "I came to Disney with you. I don't want to ride by myself.
I want to ride with you!"
Can't fault that logic... at least not out loud.

Thankfully, even when we were outside, they had these fans set up in the trees.
They helped a lot
.
Really? I found that they simply moved the hot air around so you felt like you were standing inside a giant dryer.

Kay loves animals.
She's always asking to go to the pet store
and when we get there, she always tries to convince me
that some critter needs a real home.
We have one of those in our house :rolleyes1

We laughed about the frozen goat for the rest of the day.
Indeed, even after the trip.
Heck if you mention it, you might even get a bonus point or two.
Frozen goat, frozen goat
Can't make him move anywhere...

By now, it was getting later in the day and we had to start
heading out for our dinner ADR.
I can't believe you guys made it all day in that sauna. I cannot survive much past 12:30 or 1 in that park. Seriously, just way to hot!

We relaxed and watched the fishies as we munched.
It was a nice little spot.
And we could put our feet up!
That looked so relaxing! There's nothing like finding a few moments of peace and relaxation in the middle of a crazy park.

What park are we going to? (This should be an easy one... if you've read my last TR.)

1. Park - DHS. Sure you could review your previous report (and I wholeheartedly recommend doing that because it was an awesome read!) to come up with an answer OR (if you are temporarily short on time) you could do a little comparison of some of the pictures that have already been posted :thumbsup2

2. 50s Prime Time.

3. Let's see. Top floor is the easy part. But where are you :scratchin
Let's be optimistic and say that you got to keep 60's (since that's what Kay asked for) and since you will be on the top floor anyway let's just go all the way and say that you were in building 4 and had a lake view which should also give you a fireworks view... not that you're likely to be in the room then but hey you never know.

Great update!

Thanks, Mike! :)

The frozen goat is very funny! (Not as funny as the new golf channel app commercial, but still pretty funny)

I love that commercial!
He's going to need a bigger club.

Here are my new guesses,

I think your next park is DHS, your ADR is at 50's PT, and your new room is 50's, lake view, 3rd floor.

Noted.

:offtopic: (wish they had an off topic with a happy face)

Want one?

Sorry for the hijack ponzie but..... I have just a few minutes here but saw there was a new chapter and can't read it today normally I would be so bummed out but I do have a good excuse for not reading it yesterday or today, yesterday we had a baby shower for my youngest daughter. her husband was on his duty weekend at the local base. well when she got here she said she was feeling stiff etc. we almost had that shower become a birthday party! she won't deliver until today so we came home around midnight and are heading back to the hospital for the arrival of our next disser in the family:love::love::love::love::love:

Hey! That's great news!!
Hoping it all went well? What's the news?

(auto correct insists that Ponzi is a Pontiac)

I've been called worse.
Not as weird... but worse.

*I'm so excited I just can't hide I'm about to have a grandkid and I think I like it*

So sorry you had to go up and down from your room multiple times a day.

It got old, real fast.

I'm going to guess you get transferred to top floor, 60's, overlooking the pool.

Noted.

Kay was so cute on Dinosaur. I love that picture of her holding your hand. What a great memory to keep. Still daddy's little girl.

::yes:: I really didn't expect that to happen.
I think it might be my third favourite picture of the trip.

You'll see.

The visual of the baby powder made me lol.:rotfl: How did you explain that one to Kay? :rotfl2:

Kay: "Why did she do that?"
Me: "Chafing."
Kay: "Oh."

It's so sweet that she wanted to ride with you and you visited the animals for her.

I am a very firm believer that if you are taking someone to Disney,
that you let them do what they want to do.
Yes, guide them and make suggestions, but...

She was the whole reason for the trip!

I just do not understand parents who scream at their kids
because they want to ride Dumbo again, or don't want to.
But Mom and/or Dad want to do something else.

I loved the goat picture. He was claiming his spot and wasn't budging for anyone. I didn't know goats were so stubborn.

 It was so... bizzarre!

I'm going to guess you go to Studios. I want to say you eat at Prime Time, but thinking this trip is for Kay I'm going to say Sci Fi, since she loved it when she was younger (does that get me any bonus points even if I do guess wrong?).:teeth:

Noted.

Hi Pkondz

Hey Mac!

What can we do with a FROZEN GOAT in extreme hot weather? Why one should strap a FROZEN GOAT to ones back thus will have a cooling effect which can be even more efficient by attaching a fan to one’s neck and pointing it over the FROZEN GOAT and thus directing the cooling air which was created by blowing the hot air over the goat and converting it into cold air over ones torso. The frozen goat should be replaced with another one when it thawed out and repeated until you arrived back home where there is no need for FROZEN GOATS but a warm goat could be handy to have in your winter time.

 You really thought that one out, didn't you!

Great update.

Thanks!

Your next port of call is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The meal was at the 50”s Prime time café.

Your room is on the third floor in the 60”s section overlooking The HIPPY Dippy pool

Noted.

OK, I'm back after having done my research, and I have a few comments for you.

Lay 'em on me.

Research includes making my way to page 18 of your solo trip report.

 And you're okay? Feeling a little woozy, maybe?
No? Queasy?

I learned we have something in common, both suffering a milestone birthday within the last year!

Ah! Well belated happy birthday and congrats! :)

I'm enjoying reading about your solo adventures, and keep wishing that I could comment, but since that TR is all wrapped up, I guess I'll have to comment over here.

Sure! They all just sorta flow together anyway.

You sure sashayed quite a bit. If I didn't know (guess) better, I would really wonder about you!

Oh, you should wonder.
You really should.

Also, you are good to have eaten all the Zebra Domes, nobody wants to be offered opened food from a stranger, and you probably got the better enjoyment anyways.

That's what I figured, too.
And if there had been signs up saying to share food...
I would've come up with some other excuse to keep 'em to myself!

There were tons of other things I wanted to say, but I can't remember.

What's that you said about a milestone birthday? :rolleyes1

RnRC is my favorite Disney ride ever followed by CA Screamin. Both are launched coasters, totally different, but equally cool (although RnRC is just a squinch cooler due to the dark ride part and Aerosmith).

Don't know if I'll ever get to try CA Screamin.
But yeah, since I already like Aerosmith, you can't go wrong with a good coaster themed around them.

Next for me would be DLR's SM because I will not ride MK's as it is far to jarring and just not fun. Same for BTMRR.

I've heard that a lot, lately.
It's why I didn't ride it in February.
I was just getting over a sore neck and didn't want to aggravate it.

However, I don't find BTMRR jarring at all.
Odd.

After DLR's refurb, there is no reason for me to waste my ride time riding MK's when I can ride DLR's almost whenever I want and it's better!

That makes sense.
You know, it kind of reminds me of everything Frozen.
I deal with snow on an all to frequent basis.
I go to WDW to get away from it.
I really don't need to have any more, thanks.

Noted.

It is. For now. But the state of the veins in her leg is a "condition", so there is always the risk of a recurrence, but so far it hasn't come back.

And hopefully it wont!

Knock on wood. (hits head with fist). Ouch.

 As long as it doesn't sound hollow, you're good.

I've usually got three or four in the hopper in case we have to cancel. :rolleyes1

Right now I have exactly zero in the hopper.

I believe you mean B-flat clarinet.

Whoopsie! Yes, that's right.
Don't know where I got D flat from.
Must be a British thing.
"I left my clarinet back in dee flat"

OK, back to read the previous TR! :moped:..................................

Don't hurt yourself!

True! Without kids, hubs and I get up early to ride as many rides as we can before lines get long.

HAHA! I bet it would be a funny photo on dinosaur! :crazy2::tongue:

well, I'll take that! I feel guilty even "somewhat" asking in the first place! thankya! :)

I'm impressed. Of course, you asked us what time Kay woke up, not when you woke her up... :rolleyes1

On this one occasion... the two were the same.

It don't happen often...

I have successfully traded a mug for a different colour! Of course, they wouldn't actually activate the mug for me. Luckily I was on the Dining Plan and didn't need to use the mug for cold drinks.

Interesting.
I just assumed that would be a non-transferable item.

I feel that kind of pain. Toting around a film SLR to Disneyland was the point when I decided to let other people take the great pictures, and stay with silly snapshots.

I have a feeling that next time (if? when?) I'll leave the camera at home, too.
I really do prefer to go in with nothing but a magic band... and now with my iPod too for MDE.

Awwww....:flower:

:goodvibes

Clearly the goat's name was Sheldon.

1. HS
2. Prime Time
3. 60's, Preferred Pool view, top floor

I did! Thanks! :goodvibes

That frozen goat is pretty funny. I was expecting something Frozen-themed but that it was an actual frozen goat is better.

::yes:: Especially considering there was no ice or snow involved.
For a Canadian... that's a plus.

top floor pool view, and 70's studios for the park and sci fi for adr.

heading back to read the rest of the chapter just popping in to get my guesses in.

See ya!

oh and add my pic of ponzie heading out to the parks, btw we appreciate you lugging your camera gear as we all know lots of great pics are going to show up
th

1. I hope you won't be too disappointed with the pics.
I had very little time to stop and take them. More of the "on-the-run" kinda shots.
I wasn't going to take too much time with Kay waiting.

2. Love that pic! That was pretty much me!

You’re right – I should never have suggested that you would frolic. I’m sure you’re much more of a gambol type of guy ;).

Oh, no. I'll frolic. I'll gambol too. Usually I sashay (ask anyone...)
But this trip was too hot for that, usually.

It’s a very prestigious award. The prize is yet to be determined but is most likely honour and bragging rights.

Sweet!

Wait... You mean there's no actual trophy? Or physical stuff that I can sell on Ebay?

I felt it melted way too quickly in the heat and the ice-cream and chocolate were both pretty low quality.

I was worried about the melting, but we ate them so fast that it didn't come into play.
I will admit that it's not my usual preference for ice cream.
I always find that the hard chocolate shell breaks and falls off when you bite into it.

But it was so hot... it really hit the spot that day.

Fine? Yes. Incarceration? Maybe :confused3. My government job and security clearance? Not so much.

Wouldn't incarceration have an impact on your security clearance?

Just sayin'

But really... you should've risked it for moi.

Hey! Your girl got up before time to leave! Nice job.

No one was more surprised than I was!

I'm excited to be within a half hour and get close on one guess at least. Tell her next time she has my permission to sleep in so I can be right.

 Okay, I'll let her know.

Nice start to your trip!

Thanks!

I can't believe you didn't have a Mickey Bar before now. or I should say then.

Well... It's not usually my go-to kinda treat.
But since everyone always talks about them, I figured I'd better give 'em a try.

Pretty funny frozen goat I thought he must be pooping all over your shoe Good thing he just wanted a back scrstch.

:lmao: Well, if he had, I wouldn't have been frozen!!

Park: DHS
Ride: RNRC (I know this wasn't on the list, but it might count for bonus points?)

 Well how do you argue with that one?!?

I know, right? I just looked at her, nodded and got in line.

I've heard that goats do this from time to time.

They do? Why didn't anyone tell me?!?!?

:rotfl2: I'm with you on that one!

I still don't quite know exactly how we got these pigs in the house!

Wonderful spot to eat a Mickey Bar.

::yes:: It was nice. You could watch the fish go by as you sat in the shade.
Not much people watching, though.

I love your theories on Dinosaur Extinction. Seem plausible to me. Though after reading Dinotrux by Chris Gall (over and over and over and over to my boys) I kind of believe that theory for extinction as well. So I might not be the most reliable resource.

It would kill me to get into a long line like that when I could hop into the Single Rider, but I completely understand what Kay means. It's not as fun alone. There is something to be said for enjoying the time together- even if it isn't necessarily optimizing every minute attraction wise, I do feel like it optimizes every minute bonding wise. Sometimes those moments end up being some of my favorites from the trip!:goodvibes

Okay . . . For my guesses.
I think you are going to Epcot (I have no reason to base this, as even though I read your last report, I can't remember nearly any of it. I should have that checked. . . ) You are going to eat at Via Napoli (because I am craving their pizza right now). And your room will be in the 50's section, with a pool view, and on the 3rd floor.

Somebody call the newspaper. A teenager is woken up and doesn't complain??

I did! They refused to print the story and called me a liar.

What a good daddy you are!

Apparently I'm up for a prestigious award!

So cute! Also, I love the varied expressions on the faces of people on this ride. They range from "OMG I'm going to be eaten by a Dinosaur!!!" to "Um, yea, okay "

 I know! I was going to comment on it and then decided to leave it for you to explore.

Really? I found that they simply moved the hot air around so you felt like you were standing inside a giant dryer.

Huh. No, I was glad of the little breeze that they made.
I distinctly remember standing in one spot for a few extra seconds
since there was a bit of a breeze there.

We have one of those in our house :rolleyes1

Which? A kid who wants critters? Or a critter? Or both?

Frozen goat, frozen goat
Can't make him move anywhere...

They should make a song (and video) about that.
It would be a hit.
I'm almost positive.

I can't believe you guys made it all day in that sauna. I cannot survive much past 12:30 or 1 in that park. Seriously, just way to hot!

Oh, that's right! It was hot!
I almost forgot to mention that!

That looked so relaxing! There's nothing like finding a few moments of peace and relaxation in the middle of a crazy park.

It was really nice.
And I wouldn't have done it without Kay.

Lucky. If it was Ruby (DW) and I, we wouldn't be making rope drop either.
We did it last time with the rug rats... and I broke her.

HAHA! I bet it would be a funny photo on dinosaur! :crazy2::tongue:

So it's a date, then? :)

well, I'll take that! I feel guilty even "somewhat" asking in the first place! thankya! :)

Nah. I allow everyone to ask for points....

once.

Asking for more points can be detrimental to one's points tally.
