"You know what I'd really like." She says.
"Is to go to Hawaii."
I was stunned. I hadn't considered that.
"Well, I can certainly look at that." I replied.
I did. And it didn't look good.
"Can you take a couple of days off?" I ask.
"We could leave on Thursday and come back Monday."
"For this. I'll just tell them I'm going."
She matter-of-factly states.
Wow, I think I'd like Ruby. She dreams big, lets someone else do all the legwork, coolly assesses the relative value of work vs. extra time in frakkin' MAUI, and makes it happen. My kinda gal for sure.
I can foresee no possible way even the shortest of trips to Hawaii in winter could be anything less than perfect, particularly coming from the Great Frozen North like you are. Our weather in NY (and all the rest of the Northeast) has been so unseasonably warm and snowfree that it might very well be good beach weather here in February as well! I did see some pics of surfers on Rockaway Beach (Long Island) on Christmas morning, and they were complaining that their wetsuits were TOO WARM. Gracias, El Nino!
I can only assume that Disney noticed
the most convenient Monorail was fairly full,
so they got it out of the way for us.
So we could have seats, naturally.
Clearly your personal transit concierge noticed that Kay's feet were about to start hurting and did not want to take a chance that she might have to stand up all the way to Epcot. They're good like that, especially if you tip them. The hard part is trying to spot them so you can slip them a few bills. You can't give gratuities to the bus drivers (or boat or monorail pilots) because they know nothing about the VIP program. Or about anything else having anything to do with Disney, come to think of it!
I did not... repeat NOT, touch the cooking surface with my finger.
(I'm curious. Let me know if you get (or don't get) that reference.
Bonus points whether you do or don't get it. I just wanna know.)
Hard to prove because I only posted on a few of Nebo's trip reports (I was usually an entire trip behind!), but I faithfully read them all. In fact, it was Nebo's TRs that caused me to start reading yours. You were the one consistent poster who made me laugh as hard as Nebo did--you were a team made in comedy heaven!! I see Squidgy posting here and there, but I guess Nebo's officially retired now, huh? How is he doing? I miss the big guy. But I would never go to a hibachi restaurant with him because no doubt he'd set himself on fire and I'd reach for my water glass but instead pick up the sake, pour it on him, and we'd both go up in smoke!
After waking up from our sugar comas...
and don't you just love Disney?
While we were laying there unconscious and gently twitching,
no one came and stole our Magic Bands!
I thought we'd been sprinkled with pixie dust,
but it turned out to be just sugar.
Only in Disney theme parks... If this happened at almost any other vacation destination you could expect to wake up in another continent minus a kidney or two. Your wallet, credit cards, electronic devices, and yes, Magic Bands, would also be missing. And the villains would probably be really mad at you because those plastic bracelets were not Fitbits after all!
There was an old-school video game sitting in the corner.
Un-used and sneered at by the younger generation.
If you've been around as long (or longer) than I have
you might be familiar with a game called Galaga.
It used to be one of my favourite games.
This is back when dinosaurs roamed the arcades,
you understand.
I remember it well. The dinosaurs were much better at Pac-Man than I was.
So without any further blather from yours truly,
here are some of the shots I took around Pop.
Hope you enjoy!
I did enjoy them! We've stayed at Pop several times and I always loved the fun, playful atmosphere. I think my last time there was before 2001. I have pics of the sister resort they started to build then put on the back burner during the dramatic drop in tourism after 9/11. I was so happy when they finally revamped their plans and built Art of Animation, at least until the one time I actually stayed in the Little Mermaid section. I had no idea when I booked it that it was approximately 217 miles from the front of the resort where important things like the food court and the bus stops were. One night we returned from the park on a Pop bus, had dinner at their food court, then walked across the bridge to Little Mermaid. It turned out to be a much shorter trip! And bringing this back to your report and Kay's sore feet, I recommend you keep her far away from the Little Mermaid rooms on future vacations. My feet never hurt as much as they did on that trip.
DizzneyDi - 4, Teppan Edo, cronut, ice cream, TT, Alice - 15 points (high score!)
High score!! Yay me!! I rock!!!I even roll!!!!
1. AM or PM? Do we get out of our room in the morning or afternoon?
Early PM.
2. We have an ADR... in Epcot. Third time's the charm? Where is it?
(Hint: Not Biergarten or Teppan Edo)
Gotta go with the popular choice, Via Napoli!
3. Speaking of Epcot, what's our first ride?
(Hint: Think outside the box.)
Hmmm. Imagination? That's about as far outside the box as you can get, assuming the box contains all the GOOD rides!

No, wait, gonna say Nemo because I don't think you've mentioned it yet. (Says the person whose mind is made of Swiss cheese...)
4. Of our three Epcot FPs...
a. Which Tier one FP? Soarin', Test Track or The Land?
b. Do we use 0, 1, 2 or all 3 of our FPs?
Test Track. (Nobody ever picks the Land for their Tier one FP, right? I mean, I like to look at plants as next as the next person, but the thrill factor is pretty low.) And I think your late start maybe causes you to miss a couple of earlier FPs so I'll say 1.
This will be the last update until the New Year.
I might write it during the Holidays, I might not.
But I won't post it until 2016.
But, but, that's NEXT YEAR!!
Oh, wait, that's also next week. Acceptable.
Hope you and your family and all of your crazy fans (of which I am one!) have joyous, magical--and SAFE--holidays!!
