Last morning in Toronto, up early and ready for breakfast for 7, as we were being picked up at 8.30 for the transfer back to the airport. Made sure I stocked up on the breakfast just in case the next meal was a few hours away !!

Checked out and then off to the airport.Nice transfer, very nice man took us there, checked in, no problems, and sat waiting for the plane. Canada is huge ! The transfer from Toronto to Calgary was 4 hours. The same time my wife flies to visit her sister in Cyprus.

Flight was great again, but there was no meal, only snacks you could purchase, which we did. We had a pizza each, but at the end of the flight the credit card machine was not working so we all got the food for free, which was lovely.

Off the plane and the person who was to meet us was not there, so hung around a bit, and still no show. I recognised another person who was from the company we were expecting a lift from, and I had a chat with him, he kindly rang up the office and 5 mins later someone was here to take us to Banff.

Travelling to Banff was a 2 hour drive, very enjoyable, wilderness country is how I would describe it. Still no rain, and by mid afternoon we were there.

Our next hotel was the Caribou Lodge, and as soon as I saw it, it reminded me of Blizzard Beach, Lotta Wotta Lodge kept springing to mind every time I saw it. When I walked into the lobby, I thought this is where Santa Claus comes for his holidays, it was like mini Switzerland. It was strange to me, maybe not to them but it was to me.

Hotel had free in room Wi Fi which was great for the iPod, but the rooms were not as good as Toronto, there was no air conditioning, and they were very old and tired, but it was for 3 nights only.

As usual, dumped the bags, straight out and walked back into Banff. Walked into the town, over the bridge over the Bow river and into the National Park Head Quarters, which has a little garden out the back, from which we took the photos of Banff. Beautiful, stunning, peaceful, are the words to describe Banff. Canada's treasure is places like Banff, and they certainly treasure them.

We walked back through town and back to our Hotel, we decided to eat at the hotel today, which had a Keg Steak House, as its restaurant. My mistake here was to assume that beer and lager were the same thing in Canada as they are in America. Oh dear !

So we ordered 2 beers, and 2 pints of bitter turned up! Now the wife hates bitter and I only ever drink on holiday, so I downed 2 pints while the wife had a glass of wine. We had starters each, and then pot roast beef each, plus some fries in case the portions were small.

A good meal, but the mash potato was dry, but the chips made up for that. The bill including tip, was $150.00, which cost me about £110.00. Not cheap at all, but we left with full stomachs.

It was off to bed, as we had another trip tomorrow.

Wonderful photos of a gorgeous place. I am so glad you decided to post your report here.
