Just wondering how crazy traffic is Canada Day weekend in downtown Vancouver

Which day are you arriving? Friday 2016 will be heavy around the cruise terminal with all day festivities, street parties, a flaming cauldron, and fireworks show will be lit up on the west side of the cruise terminal. This weekend will also be heavy with visitors with the US holiday on Monday.

You are missing the worst of the traffic on Friday and Friday evening. What's unclear is when is Cannabis Day. Will it be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. That can/will mess up traffic in the afternoon around the art gallery.

Expect to be busy at tourist attractions on Sunday.
