Could someone please help with this question. I'm bringing money of course, but wanted to know if I would be able to write a personal check for cash or write a personal check (out of state) for a souvenir? Does MK have a bank or am I just loosing my mind all together? I was just wondering? TIA Peylog

I've never heard that you could write a check in the stores, but you can pay for your res. with a check, as long as you have two forms of ID with you (Driver's license and major cc.) There is a bank at WDW, and there are ATM's in the resorts and parks to get cash, if you have a debit card. They charge you a $2.00 service charge, though.:wave2:

When we went last November we didn't take a lot of cash, figured we'd just get cash at the ATM machine as we needed it. Well, we went to DTD to the World of Disney Store and used our ATM/Debit card to pay for a large purchase. The CM rang the purchase up incorrectly (we'd asked her a couple of times to send it home via UPS and she rang it as a regular purchase instead) and had to credit the purchase back and re ring it correctly. Well, that threw up a red flag to our bank, who in turn "turned off" my husband's card. We didn't know what was happening and thought that our debit cards didn't work in the Bank One machines. We were kind of worried since Disney doesn't have any other ATMs. And now the point of this story - to answer your question - the resort we were staying at POR would cash one check for $50.00, not one per day, but one total. I was not impressed.

Luckly we went back to our room and checked our messages at home and there was a message from fraud protection. When we explained where we were and what had happened, they "unfroze" the card and everything was fine. Turns out only Brent's card was frozen to begin with. My ATM card would have worked fine.

Sorry for such a long answer

I have already paid for Hotel and tickets. I already have plenty of cash for food and souvenirs and even gas. I just wanted to know before i went if I could write a personal check at a bank at WDW or hotel. TIA Peylog

We've written checks at the World of Disney Store in Downtown Disney as well as at the gift shop at the resort. Our last trip was in 2002, so they may have changed their policy since then, but as far as I know you can write a check for merchandise as long as you have 2 forms of ID.

As of last summer, YES, you can use your checks. We did at the gift shops in downtown disney last july. We bring cash, but for some high priced items, I use my checks. We also took out cash using the ATM in the CR. But, just beware they charge something a like 5.00 fee for each transaction .

Last December, I wrote a check in Epcot. I was picking up some stuff in Norway for a friend and didn't want to use our cash. They said a check was just fine, and I had no problems.:D

Thanks alot, Its so nice to have this board available for questions like this. I wouldn't have known where else to look, I've already looked up a few websites. But this is so much faster. 3 more days till I'm in the world!! I can hardly control myself!!
