In making my commando one day touring plan for MK I am trying to become very familiar with the "lay of the lands" so that we dont spend a lot of time reading a map and trying to find a certain attraction.

You can unless they have it closed for a show. Sometimes they close it off for reasons like this. If it is closed, the fastest way is to take a right just past the tomorrowland bridge. It takes you straight at the teacups and then you turn left and are in fantasyland.
