from the TTC to the Contemporary? from the Poly to the Contemporary?

Thanks!

No you couldn't do that because you have the lake in the way. You can walk from the Poly to the TTC and you can walk from the Contemporary to MK.

I beg to differ. How do you suppose the busses get to MK and the CR?
From the TTC you would walk East on Seven Seas drive to the traffic light. Then turn North (left) onto World Drive. It's not a short walk, but it can be done. :thumbsup2

But is it SAFE? Most roads on Disney property aren't abutted by sidewalks; is there one the whole way from Poly to TTC? Or would the OP have to walk in the road or on the not-scaped-for-foot-traffic grass?

You could also walk all the way around from the Poly to the GF to the MK I think. Not sure.... I will probably be corrected by someone I am sure if I am not correct

Walking from TTC to the Poly is easy - since the two are right next to one another, there's a walkway that connects them directly without ever going out onto a road.

Walking up World Drive, though is another story - it may not even be feasible, given the narrow underpass with no sidewalk. (If one wanted to try it, Seven Seas Drive would not be the way to go in any case - taking the service road out the back door of the bus parking lot would be a much shorter route. Even then, World Drive would be far too dangerous to chance walking along.)

Interestingly enough, one *could* walk from TTC to *Wilderness Lodge* without much of a problem - again, take the back door out the TTC, cross directly over World Drive, and the service road takes you right to the CM parking lot at WL.

Sure you could walk the way the busses go but I didn't think the OP wanted to do that. Is it safe to do that? NO!

You can walk from the Poly to GF but you can't go GF to MK, there is no walkway and you'll run into the canal where they keep the Electric Water Pageant floats.

Don't try walking to the Contemporary from the Polynesian. It just isn't safe. If you could manage it without getting smooshed by a speeding bus, or car with a driver who wasn't sure where the heck they were going, it would be a looong walk, over fields and across streets with no sidewalks. You are not meant to walk there. Take the monorail.
Same with the trip from the Polynesian to MK..you can't walk it because of the waterway between GF and MK. You can walk between TTC, Polynesian and GF, but that's it.

It is my understanding that WDW security will stop pedestrians that they see walking along the main roads, such as World Drive or Osceola Pkwy. It is really a safety hazard.

Yep, if there is not a pedestrian sidewalk or walkway, if you are passed by security as you are walking, you will be picked up.

I've seen it happen to folks trying to walk from Pop Century to Wide World of Sports.

Interesting topic - but I'm wonder what right Disney security has to stop people from walking on these roads. Now, maybe World Drive is a private road, but the roads around POP/WWoS aren't, are they?

Those are all Disney roads. The Osceola Parkway isn't but I am sure they could pick you up. People are not looking for walkers and it is very dangerous when there aren't any sidewalks.

I'm curious what you mean by "Disney roads". Are you saying they are private property and not public roads. And if Osceola Parkway is a public road, why could Disney security pick me up for walking along it?

The distances involved are short but it's a very, very bad idea to attempt to walk somewhere where there are no walking paths. Just don't do it!

You can walk GF-Poly-TTC, CR-MK, and WL-FW. You cannot walk from Polynesian to CR, WL, or FW.

And you cannot walk from MK to GF even though there is a walking path! Trivia question: Why not? ;)

Yes, it is all private property, owned by Disney. Disney built and maintains most of those roads themselves. Osceola and Orange County Sheriffs department also patrols the roads.

Disney probably has something written along the lines that private vehicles can only go on marked roads designed for private vehicle traffic, and pedestrians can only go on marked pathways designed for pedestrian use.

I asked only because I love to ride the monorail! We're staying at WL and I was wondering how to get to TTC. Thought about taking the boat to CR & then walking to TTC without getting on the resort mono. Obviously (and thanks!) I can't do that so, the resort mono it is!! I do also realize this is the LOOONG way around but I really don't care too much about that. Not gonna commando this time!!! Thanks for all the info :thumbsup2

Actually walking out the "back door" of the TTC is something the CMs do pretty often - it's really no more of a "bus road" than the regular road out of TTC.

The walk to WL, which was actually suggested to me by an on-duty CM years ago, is no less safe than any normal walk in the TTC area, with the minor complication that one needs to cross (but not walk along) World Drive.

Actually Pooch, if you want to get *from* WL *to* the TTC, that's a fairly simple walk - and from what I can recall, not really with any safety issues.

When you come out the front door of the Lodge, the parking lot is right in front of you, and to your right you'll see an opening in the hedges where the drive leads to the cast member parking area. If you go through this opening and turn left immediately, you'll find yourself on a small road that you can easily walk along. Follow this road for a couple hundred yards, and you'll come to World Drive. This road continues directly across World Drive, which is only two lanes across at this point. Follow the road maybe another 300 yards, and you'll find yourself in the TTC, right next to the monorail station.

WDW is laid out in such a way that there are a number of places that are much closer to one another than we'd realize. This is just one example.

Also, if you're a monorail fan staying at WL, sometime while you're in the lobby, take the stairs up to the third floor, in the front of the lobby. You'll find a window that looks out onto an unused outdoor landing. This landing was designed as a possible monorail station, in the event that the monorail were expanded to connect the Lodge to the other MK resorts. (As far as I know, there were not any serious plans to actually *do* such an expansion, but the design allowed for the possibility.)
