I called disney dining to see if they have any openings for whispering canyon on this saturday night. Of course, they don't. Do you think it would be possible to walk up around five and see if they could seat us? What do you think the chances are for a party of 7?

We stayed at WL for 3 weeks in November (just back!), and we were trying to organise a dinner reservation for my sister and I, and her godsons, and their parents i.e. 4 adults and 2 little ones. The CM at the front desk of WCC more or less laughed at my sister for asking if she could try to walk up. We did eventually get a reservation for about 1 week later!

Several years ago I was told by CM at Kona Cafe that even if they couldn't book us ahead we should walk up because they were not allowed to allocate all tables for reservations (a bit like pre-booking particular seats on a plane) but obviously the policy has changed. (I did try the walk up to Kona Cafe and did get seated without too long, but as I say that was at least 2 years ago).

My answer would be "no".

Last May, while standing at the podium waiting to check-in at 6pm, the couple in front of me gave their name & the CM could not find them listed in the system at all.

They searched & searched & finally found them listed for the previous night. Yes, the couple had an ADR for the night before. Someone sure did mess up somehow. I started to get nervous about my own ADR while I was standing there!

Anyway, the couple asked if they could just wait & they were told that the restaurant was booked that night, so they left.

I'd say no. Perhaps if you were only a party of 2 or 4, maybe would get lucky, but I doubt it.
Plus, would be a shame to deal with taking transportation over to WL just to get there and get turned away.

1) sshhhhh
2) it is a secret

3) Yes.
4) Only 80% of the WCC capacity is booked through the ressie system.
5) The other 20% is for walk-ups.

NOTE: Although there is space for walk-ups, the exact time you go may allow or halt this. If they are very busy at that time and/or the tables are running late, then you could wait for a long time.

Do you work there?

We were able to get a table for a party of five for dinner as walk-ups in April 2007. I would recommend getting there at the beginning of dinner service for the best chance.

It is a popular place. Two couples walked up while we were there in September and were turned away (had I known we wouldn't like it we would have gladly given them our table).

You might have luck walking up right when the restaurant opens for dinner. We were unable to secure an ADR for our last minute trip in September (during free dining), but since we were staying at WL we decided to try to walk up right at opening. We were seated after about 10 minutes. Although we only had a party of 2, so that likely helped. Good luck!

You can always try, you can't say it's impossible, it depends on how busy it is. We tend to go when crowds are smaller, and have walked up, (last year) and waited 20 mins, for a table for 7. We had an ADR for Ohana's, but couldn't wait, everyone was hungry early. So we tried WCC.

We went last week and enjoyed the food and the whole staff. But to go over there with no ADR, I wouldn't do that.:)

You can keep calling daily and have the concierge check for you when you check in at the resort. I really don't think a walk-up for 7 is likely without a significant wait.

WCC starts seating for dinner around 5 so they probably would not be able to accomodate a party of 7 at the beginning of service. We went at the end of October and wanted to sit near friends of ours (with them or in the same general area) and they weren't sure if they could do it because there were 20 reservations in between the two parties. And our reservations were 15 minutes apart. They told us that the table assignments were computer generated. If you are staying at WL, you could also pop in and check to see if they have a table available. Or maybe try for a late dinner if your party can handle eating after the dinner rush.

We never make a ressie for the WCC and have always been able to get in.The longest time we have ever waited to be seated was 20 mins.I say go for it.You will be seated.:upsidedow

Hmmmm. Good information. I have a ressie at 6:30 at Trail's End, so maybe I will go over when they open and check. If not, no harm done. I am also going to call each day before then just in case they have an opening. Thanks for all your advice!!!:goodvibes
