Can you walk to any of the parks from the moderate resorts?

Since this is our first trip I am very unfamiliar with the area. Are there any parks that we could walk to while staying at a moderate resort?

Only if you wanted to walk a long, long way...

Closest would be from Caribbean Beach resort to MGM at around a mile?

Either way... take a bus or a car. :)

Even if you did want to walk, it's not really safe. There are no sidewalks, and drivers are not used to seeing people walk along the side of the road!

..Its not a park BUT we stayed at Port Orleans riverside and loved that they have a boat ride to downtown disney!

Thank you. I was fairly certain we would have to drive every place. But my dh insists that the park can't be "that" big! :lmao: Can't wait for him to see this map... thank you DisnyNutz for the link.

Thx a mint for the link to that map. I hadn't seen that one before and was always wondering why one like that didn't exist. Makes it much easier to "see" how I'm supposed to get from one place to another.

WDW is 47 sq. miles. It includes the four main parks as well as all of the resorts and smaller parks. Which moderate have you booked at?

All of our friends that have never been and ask "you're going again" can't seem to imagine anything but an amusement park.:confused3 This place is huge and spread out over many miles. It is difficult enough to walk around one of the parks, much less to all of them. He is really in for an eye opening pleasure, because Disney is not an amusement park, but rather a world you escape into.:cool1: And Klam_Chowder you are welcome also. Glad to help.:thumbsup2 Transportation is a definate must at WDW and Disney does a great job of providing it for you. We have used their transportation completely on some trips and our own on some others. That is something you and your family will figure out which is right for you. It is a little confusing driving around on your first visit, but things are really well marked and you can easily soon figure it out, or just kick back and let Disney take you where you want to go. Here's wishing you both a magical vacation:cool1:

No, but you can walk to the bus stop and that will take you to the parks. ;)

That on our first trip I never put the key back into the ignition on our vehicle until time to leave, but we stayed onsite. If staying offsite this is not possible of course.I don't mind driving around WDW, but their transportation is good also.

Hey you beat me to it. :goodvibes But I will add that WDW is roughly the size of San Francisco.

YES -I think this is the one thing that I truly didn't understand before our first trip. I had visions of hop skips and jumps from here to there ---- and trying to go see other resorts and jump in the pools!! Yea right!!!

It's SOOOOOO Big!!!

I remember pulling in (on the bus) to that "Main" entrance of the world - thinking "we're here!" and it was STILL FOREVER before we were at our resort (POR).

ALSO - we were there for 10 days and used the bus system A LOT - by the end of the vacation, I still wouldn't have been able to get to ANY POINT A to POINT B on my own if I was asked to!! Unless it was on the monorail loop! (LOL)

Not only is it unsafe because there are no sidewalks, it is also not allowed! My sister and I had the bright idea years ago to walk from the TTC to the WL so we can get a pic with the "bear crossing" sign and then check out the resort. Well we wandered through the gate and the security guy was pretty mad. There is no walking around the streets of WDW.
