How long of a walk is it? Is it better to take transportation (boat?) early in the morning for the early entry?

It's much closer to walk to IOA. US is a bit of a haul, but still walk-able.

Thank you for the info. We are going to IOA first (early entry) and then we will go to US in the afternoon. We can take transportation back to the resort in the evening because we will probably be too exhausted to walk it.

We didn't feel like the boat saved any time - it puts you out on the "wrong" side of the water (at CityWalk), so you have to walk a little bit to cross the bridges to either park. The walk from RPR wasn't bad at all...probably takes about 10 min. There are also rickshaw bikes you can catch at the beginning and end of the hotel path if you don't feel up to walking.

For early entry, we left the hotel about 7:40 and got to IOA gate about 10 min til and they were letting people in. Headed straight to FJ and walked right on. It was great!

You might want to wait and see where your room is located. Our room was near the front of the hotel, so we had to walk quite a distance to what seemed like the back of the hotel, and then wait for a boat. We only did this once because it ended up taking more time than just walking out the front door and taking the pathway to the parks.

If you want to walk, request a room in Tower One. They have an exit door that takes you right to the walking path.
Tower three is closest to the water taxi.

The boats are the preferred method IMO, but we like to take our time, if you're in a hurry, then walking will get you to IOA quicker, especially if you are hoofing it. Really depends on how much time you need to save (i.e. whether or not you're rushing for early entry or whatever). I never timed the walk per se, but its about 7-8 minutes from RP to IOA. You come out of the trail from RP basically right at the IOA entrance, whereas the boats take you to the main dock at City Walk and past this spot.

The boats were great, especially in the afternoons and evenings when we were hot and tired, but we always walked to IOA in the morning. It took us about 7 minutes and we beat the boat people there every time.

It usually takes us about 7 minutes as well. It would be even shorter if it wasn't for that one stupid "unnecessary" part of the trail, right before the bridge.

LOL, there are a few "unnecessary" parts of the walk...I know what you mean. They definitely didn't follow the "the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line" theory! I can understand if you want to go on a nice, scenic walk, but when most people are either trying to get to the park ASAP or back to the resort to rest, I think the path is a little too wandering!

They should have built a walking bridge over the water right before that huge turn in the path.
