Can you waitlist for more than one property?

We're planning to go Nov. 16-22. (Thanksgiving is the next day). We're OKW members, but we'd like to stay at BWV, preferably w/a standard view. Or BWV preferred view or BCV would be ok too. Is there a way to waitlist for more than one resort? Hopefully when I call I'll get lucky and something will be available and this will be a non-issue, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, if you have enough points to cover all the reservations you can do it. Also you would need to make the reservations at the time when you can use your points, OKW 11 months, others 7 months.

You can waitlist for as many days and rooms as you like. You only have to commit actual points when the waitlist comes through.

Best wishes -

So if I'm understanding correctly, I can put myself on the waitlist for BWV and BCV. Then when I get a confirmed ressie, I just cancel my waitlist request at the other resort.

So another question: do you think my chances are better if I pick one resort and do the day-by-day waitlist OR should I put myself on both waitlists but specify that the whole trip be available?

Thanks!

Correct. And when you have a reservation for either BWV or BCV, that is when you cancel the OKW reservation so that you have enough points to make the new reservation.

I will assume that you do not have enought points to keep the OKW reservation until you have the entire reservaiton somehwere else - i.e., if you waitlist by individual day, you would have to cancel the corresponding day at OKW to make the reservation you really want. (if you do have enough points to do that, your risk is so much less and you could waitlist by day for all 3 of your choices).

IMHO, your best chance is BWV - PV (Pool/Garden). That's because there are the most rooms in that category of all your choices. BCV will be more likely than SV at BWV, and the chance of SV coming through is very small.

If it were me, I'd do this:

Waitlist for the whole trip for BWV SV
Waitlist for the whole trip at BCV
Waitlist each day individually for BWV - PV (Pool/Garden).

It is risky to waitlist for each day individually - you may end up moving back and forth between OKW and BWV. However, your chances of getting in at the BWV are much better if you waitlist by individual day.

Be sure to call day by day right at 9 Eastern when the 7 month window opens. You may get lucky and not have to waitlist at all, or only have to waitlist for some of the days you want. Pick a resort and room type before you call.

You might consider calling MS and asking which of your choices has the most availability before the window opens. If you do this, call late in the week and mid to late afternoon. Those times are not so busy for MS as are early mornings early in the week and you will be more likely to get a friendly CM willing to help you "strategize".

Good luck!

Thanks! That's very helpful. I do have enough points to have both reservations. But 17 of them will be banked from this use year. So in order to be sure those get used, I think I'll have to forego making the OKW backup ressie won't I? If I make the OKW ressie now using banked points, then get a BWV ressie, the BWV ressie will not use banked points.

Make the back up for OKW for all the nights except Saturday. That's the most likely night to still be available later (if you need it). Be sure to tell MS to use current year points and NOT the 17 borrowed points for the OKW reservation. Ask for a points status after you make the OKW reservation to ber sure the borrowed points are still in your account.

Use the borrowed points up first for the BWV nights you get when you call (I think at least some will still be available) or for the first waitlisted nights that come through.

If you have to give up on the waitlist, you can use the borrowed points for the Saturday you need at OKW. I think it is a good bet that it will still be available. JMHO, YMMV.

Best wishes -

When you're saying borrowed, you actually mean banked right? I'm saving 17 points from this use year. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

Oops! Yes, I did mean the banked (not borrowed) points you have. And you're welcome.

Good luck in the dialing derby!

Thanks! This is starting to remind me of booking Cinderella's Royal Table. At least Member Services doesn't open as early as Disney Dining. It's no great tragedy if we end up at our beloved OKW, but now I'm starting to look at it as a challenge. :moped:
