Can you use someone else's FP+?

Hi all:

So sorry as I am sure this has been answered 1,000,000 times but I can't seem to find it...

We are traveling with a group of 12 (7 are APs and can go whenever) - so likely they will allow my kids (from out of town) to ride using their FP+ if allowed...

Is it possible for my kids to take their magic bands (I think they have them, or their APs?) and ride using their FP+ reservations? Or even my magic band to ride using mine?

Does that even make sense?

Thank you!!!

I'm curious too. Be prepared for flames though about "breaking rules". With the old paper fast passes, we did that all the time because DW doesn't get on all the rides or we might change our minds and let DW and DS get on a ride while I go single rider something neither of them like. Last minute changes of mind about what to do.

You should be able to as long as you use their band. I honesty don't see this as cheating the system at all. Everyone gets 3 FP and in our case my MIL won't be using hers because she doesn't ride any of the thrill rides, even the more tame ones. So we'll be swapping bands so others in our party can use them. We are still using the same amount of FP our party was allotted just giving them to different people.

We have done this on three trips thus far, letting a parent and our older kid ride more than once, using the armbands of two younger kids who didn't meet the height requirement for a given ride.

This is one of the paradox situation of fp+ in that with the old system we would have not had fp for our younger kids on things like RNRR- we would have just pulled what we actually needed and pulled fp for everyone on rides that everyone could ride. With the new system, since we can't get more than three fp for the adults, we are unable to get fp at all for the "smaller" rides so we end up just pulling fp+ for everyone for the headliner.

Someone will doubtless post here that FP+ are not transferable, and they will be technically correct. But as to the bottom line question of "can you do it?" Yes, you certainly can.

The scanners that you tap at the fp+ ride gates do pop up guest name, but not a photo. If Disney changed this technology, then the answer might or might not change, depending on whether park management decided to care.

The only time you cannot use someone else's MB is for the actual park entry, for obvious reasons.

I can't imagine they would push the name thing, but we'll find out next month. I also have a lot of FP booked for just me and ODS and just my DH and ODS but not sure who will actually go on with him so my plan was to just switch bands if its not who I booked it for. Just seems easier than going in and trying to change it in the system and chance not being able to get the same times.

Yes you can share the FPs. Just did it last week multiple times. My DS even concocted a story for the CM if he was questioned, but he didn't even need it! :rotfl2:

Does this mean he was prepared to lie to the CM?:snooty:

We have done it. The name thing never came up. No reason to lie. If they asked, I would have just stated: "Its my wife's band."

Again, a body is a body. The spot is reserved regardless. Not sure its a cheat at all. But who knows really? I guess at some point they can card you at the mickey head!

We gave our kids our bands several times last week and they had no problems using the fastpasses. I don't really think Disney cares who in your party is using them.

My son decided he didn't want to ride Expedition Everest again, so I asked the CMs running FP at the ride if I could use his MB. They said they didn't care who used the band and let me right through. I didn't think there would be a problem because FP is reserving a slot and it shouldn't matter who uses it, but I wanted to make sure before I tried.

As PP said, a body is a body. Can't imagine they would care who used it!

We were there in February and stayed at the Swan. We all had MBs because we are AP holders, except my oldest DS. On our last day, we went to DHS and shot straight for Star Tours because we were running late and didn't want to lose our FP+. When we got to the Mickey Head, we realized that we had forgotten to stop at the kiosk and get him a FP. I asked the CM and she said he could use my band to ride with everyone else. So it doesn't seem to be against the rules.

Ad a side note, the other CM working the FP lane heard what happened and quickly chased me down and handed me a paper FP and said, "go ride with your family. It was an honest mistake". Very kind!

We did this as well. Youngest son didn't want to ride dinosaur, so teenage son rode it with his band.

With the old system, we would pull two FPs for thrill rides I would not ride but DH loved. He would go through the line twice, using both FPs. One time a CM recognized him and DH told him it was mine and I do not ride this ride. The CM had no problem with it.

I would expect the same with the MBs.

We did this in December and January. I don't ride the bigger rides, so DH would ride with one DD, come out and get my band and our other DD and ride again wih her. We never had an issue.

I went with friends last January. We were staying offsite so we couldn't make FP+ reservations in advance and we didn't get to the park until 11am. So the earliest time we could get for Soarin was 5pm. The kids were acting up so my friends left early. I took their tickets and found a couple who were about to go in standby and let them use their FPs. I just scanned all the tickets together and it was no problem.

Can I give my grandson my ticket instead of my wristband to use for FP+? I do not like most thrill rides.

As long as it is a modern (RFID) ticket media, yes. And if you have an old ticket media, it will be exchanged for new to be able to access MDE when you enter the park.

You can use your RFID ticket media on the FP+ readers at the ride entrances in exactly the same way that you use the bands. Just tap the ticket and it will light green. No problem.
