can you use dis rewards at restaurants

We were wondering if you could use the disney rewards from your credit card directly at restaurants? We are trying to decide whether to use ddp on our march trip. We can use the rewards to pay for the ddp, but if we could use them directly at the restaurants, that would help us decide not to do ddp. Thanks

i believe that you can. i have used my rewards for various purchases around wdw. just to be on the safe side you might want to check out the disney visa site, they should have a list of where rewards can be used. or you can always just call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463) i'm sure they would tell you.

if you are on the fence about DDP, keep in mind that it is a LOT of food and the only way to get your money's worth is to eat it all and eat with regularity. meaning... the plan includes appetizers, entrees and desserts per person at every sit down restaurant AND every counter service restaurant. if you're not planning on eating that much the DDP is not for you. OR if you eat irregularly, or eat small things throughout the day rather than 3 solid meals and won't use 1 counter and 1 sit-down meal a day than the DDP is not for you. our last trip we had DDP for free and found that with counter service there was NO WAY we were eating desserts and they wouldn't even let us sub out the dessert for something else like an additional drink, so it was kind of inflexible, and we lost whatever value that dessert was worth. with DDP you kind of have to make your sit-down ressies way in advance too, so you can maximize your benefits and eat at the restaurants you want. for example, to maximize your DDP sit down credits we ate at all the expensive places like chefs de france, le cellier, etc. the high end restaurants like jiko or artist point are 2 sit down credits and not worth the credit usage, better just to pay out of pocket. also DDP comes with lots of snack credits which are great, and if you don't use them all in the parks you can use them towards cookies, candy bars and other small snacks available at the hotel gift shops.

We did. This past Dec I went to the CR office in DTD and picked up a rewards card from them. Called the 800 number and had my points transferred to the card...not much just about 100 bucks. We used it for breakfast at CP and dinner at Le Cellier...it was great!

Are you sure that it is limited? Unless it has changed in the last year, we used our rewards card at every restaurant and counter service place we ate at except Rainforest Cafe that is not owned by Disney.

This is not correct. You can use your Disney rewards dollars at virtually all the park and resort restaurants. The only restaurants I have found that the Rewards dollars cannot be used are at the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin.

In 2005 we had $1005 on our rewards card. I earmarked it for food and it fed our family of 5 for 7 1/2 days. I used it at all Disney TS and CS restaurants. I only had to pay cash at snack carts.

Last October we used our Disney Rewards Card to pay for our stops around the World Showcase Food and Wine booths. All of them accepted it without question. I believe the receipt gave us our balance each time we used it. At the time it seemed like they treated it just like a gift card so I assumed we could use it anyplace a gift card could be used. I could be wrong there, but we never had a problem.

I think I have enough reward points to pay for about 3/4 of the food on our upcoming trip, woohoo!! How far in advance do I need to order the card? I am hoping just a couple weeks as I want to get as many points as possible before we go!

Do you already need to have a rewards card or can they just issue one at DtD? I never asked last time I went. I had my card already and they were able to load more reward points on it there. I never thought about waiting and getting my card there.

I haven't done it yet myself, but I thought others had mentioned that they were able to actually get a card at DTD and I thought I had read that in some brochure or something from Chase/Disney Rewards.

Ok, from the Disney rewards website:

Q. I am planning a Disney vacation. When should I request my Disney Rewards Card?
A. You will want to request your Disney Rewards Card at least three weeks before your Disney trip.

Q. If I forget to request a Disney Rewards Card before my Disney vacation, are there any options for me?
A. Yes, there are several locations at both Disneyland® and Walt Disney World where a cardmember can pick-up a Disney Rewards Card. Please call 800-300-8575 for locations. Upon receipt of the card, you can call to activate the card and move rewards onto it.

We have used our Rewards card almost exclusively for Dining at WDW. We have not had it turned down once. It's treated just like a credit card.

We have always ordered it several weeks ahead of time, but only move a $10 on the card to activate it. (That way if it should get lost in the mail, it's not too bad.) Then right before leaving we move the rest of the reward dollars to the card. After you have your card, all it takes is a call & the money is moved right away.

These are the only ones listed in the book when I called Chase to ask about others I was told if it was not listed it didn't take the rewards so someone is incorrect.
