I'm not on the dining plan, so I'll be paying out of pocket....but can I get the 20% discount using my DDE card? I know I'll still pay the 18% required gratuity, but I'd be paying that anyway.

Anyone know if the DDe is accepted at all the CP restaurants??? I'm sitting on hold or I'd ask the CM....:( sooner or later I guess they'll answer.

It has not been accepted in the past, and I doubt that it will change this year.

DH was told no when he booked our package this morning. We didn't expect it would be accepted but it never hurts to ask!

I'm curious to know when you're going? Is it not accepted because you're going during a blackout time anyway? What if you're on the dining plan, but would like to use the DDE card for an appitizer and/or drinks? Would it be accepted for that?

Its not because there is a blackout time in effect - we are going the first week of December so not really a busy time and we've been that week several times using the DDE with no problem. Not sure if you could use it in combination with the dining plan - we didn't ask that question since we aren't on the plan. It would seem reasonable to expect that you could use it.

I think DDE is not accepted for the CP because the CP is already a discount. No stacking discounts.

I found my bill from last November (although not the restaurant receipt) and it appears we were not able to use DDE for wine either.

I think I was able to use my DDE card for wine when we did CP last year. I'll have to see if I have my receipts if someone else doesn't know for sure.

Well, no CP is not discounted...it's actually pretty expensive! For instance it's $53.99 for a Tier 3 dinner.....using Le Cellier as an example since it's so popular.....if you assume that'll you'll order the most expensive entree, steak (either filet or NY) for $34.99, desserts are $6.99-7.99; included drinks are $2.09. So, assuming the most expensive dessert and entree, you would pay $45.07 per person.....but the CP package is $53.99. So that's $8.92 for your CP admission ticket.....and it's even more if you don't get steak, as the next most expensive entree item is $24.99.... which would make your CP admission ticket $18.92. (this doesn't include tip because you'll pay that no matter which way you order....though obviously your tip will be a couple dollars more on the CP plan).

The Tier one lunch is worse....regular price of the buffet is $20.99 at Garden Grill or $19.99 at Germany....but no matter which you go to you'll pay $27.99 for the CP package.

I was hoping that I could use the DDE to offset some of that upcharging, but apparently not.

Oh...and someone was asking about using the DDE and Dining Plan together. My understanding in reading the Disney FAQs about it, you CAN use the DDE to offset the cost of appetizers/non covered drinks (i.e. speciality and alcohol), though probably not on the CP package since I was told by two different CMs that the DDE is not accepted for the CP because it's a "special" dining package.

BUT>....one good thing....if you are NON dining plan, then your meal price INCLUDES an appetizer, but the dining plan folks get gyped out of the appetizer. Unfortunately for my family, there is only 1 restaurant where we like the appetizer choice.

I'm beginning to think I'll just go to these restaurants on my own, and we'll sit out at the American Pavillion and LISTEN to the CP, even if we can't see it. I tend to close my eyes at concerts anyway....my DH always accuses me of sleeping through the symphony (we have season tickets) but I like to concentrate and lose myself in the music, and watching them play doesn't interest me....I find myself distracted by the orchestra members who are fiddling with their pages, or just sitting there, or the guy in the aisle in front of me, etc. So maybe I don't need to see CP. :(

Actually, you forgot that it does include the appetizer also. At LeCellier, the appetizers range from 6.99 to 12.99. So if you were to add the most expensive to the 45.07, it would be $58.06.

I guess it depends on your point of view. To me the seating is worth quite a bit. Doesn't sound like it is to you (or your family?).

But appetizer is included as you later noted so your figures are off with the exception of lunch at Biergarten and The Land. Dinner at those restaurants is
normally $26.99 (without a drink) and $28.99.....and those may be outdated prices. I don't think the price is an upsell in the least with the exception of those two lunches.

Yes, DDE can normally be combined with DDP. We've done so many times. But one can't use DDE with the CP.

Hope you enjoy it. We love it!

I have the DDE, so there is no way I would pay $44.99 for lunch at Chefs de France just to get reserved CP seating - when what I usually get there (the French menu) costs less than $20! I have never had trouble finding a seat at the shows on weeknights in early December.

While you cannot apply DDE to the Candlelight Processional dining package, you can apply it to any off-plan items you order if you are using a dining plan credit and ordering a la carte.

I haven't any idea if you can use it on booze or appetizers that you order in addition to your CP package, though.

If you are using the basic dining plan to book the CP package, the appetizer isn't included. for OOP or deluxe dining, it is.

That is true....though I do note that the CHeddar soup that everyone raves about is only $5.49....but my real problem is that not everyone is going to order a steak....if you order some of the midrange meals you're really overpaying a great deal. So I guess they are basically expecting everyone to order the steak and figuring they're making a tidy profit off those that don't necessarily want steak.

Well, according to both Allearsnet menus and WDWinfo menus the price of Garden Grill and Biergarten for lunch is $20.99....since it's a buffet there is no other pricing available, unlike Le Cellier and others there isn't a "most expensive".....nor is there an appetizer to get for non-dining plan folks, buffet of course is all inclusive. BUT....it also means that every single person that does the CP for lunch at either of the Tier 1 is paying $7 more per person than if they went in there without the CP package. So, in essence you ARE paying for those seats.

I wish they'd just say you have to buy dinner (entree and drink maybe) and then you can purchase a CP seating for $10 or something. This way you could order what you wanted and not feel you should order the most expensive food in order to get your money worth. Of course, this way is probably much more profitable for them, lol....so it'll never happen.
