I need fabric for new drapes and I found one I love but it's expensive. Does anyone know if Joanne's mailer coupons would work for fabric? I'd be buying alot, does that matter? Also, do you know of any online stores that have really nice fabrics, somewhat modern, but still affordable?

Yes, Joann's coupons usually say something like "valid for one cut of fabric".

I like www.fabric.com

If you recieved the JoAnne mailer by mail, and it has a coupon that is current, with a printed code on it, it usually says that it is good on one item, or one cut of fabric....I have bought over one bolt of the same type of fabric/color...(bolts are from 5 to 25 yards of fabric...), and was able to use the 40% off coupon. Why? Because I did NOT have the first bolt cut, I bought the entire bolt, and more of the exact same fabric. I was also making curtains, and made them of some dress brocade.
Also if you are a teacher you can get another 15% discount, at least on the JoAnne's in S.Carolina, and the ones I go to near WDW...
If you are looking online try MaryJoes, in Gastonia, N.Carolina. Most of her fabric is online, and it is usually a very good buy, fairly close to what I get when I go to garment dist. in LosAngles.
Otherwise google it. There are also some discount stores like Fabric Emporiums that can have good home decor fabric at way less then whole cost.
Best of luck!

Just make sure the fabric you choose isn't already on sale. I work at JoAnn's and at any give time about half of the store is on sale. The coupons only ever work on non-sale items. ;)

Even if the item you choose is on sale for a lower percentage off than your coupon (your coupon is for 40% off and your fabric is only for 25% off) we can't apply the coupon and change it to the better percentage. The computers just won't let us do it.

Other than that, Yup, you are good to go! The coupons are good for any one cut of non-sale fabric.

Also check in the store when you go in, they may have some newspaper coupons on hand, you can use those as well. Then, if you needed to buy more fabric and had used up your coupon, you could have two coupons.

I was just there yesterday since DD is taking a kids sewing class. When I bought something they put a coupon in my bag for 50% any one regularly priced fabric. The coupon is good Sep. 18-24 in stores only.

yes, Coupon Commotion - also coupons for 50% off crafts, notions, etc - a whole sheet of coupons. i was giving those out all day today. If you go into a joAnn's today or tomorrow or in the next few days and buy something small, someone will likely stuff these coupons into your bag.

We hate that sale. :lmao: Very hard to ring up at the cash register and the computer is very picky about what exactly a "craft" item is etc. But its a great one for the customer!!

Yes, as long as it is one piece. The piece can be 1/4 yard or 20 yards. If you need 10 yards, and the bolt has 8 yards and 2 yards on it, you can only buy one of those pieces with the coupon.

Actually, this depends on your cutter, or the manager on duty at the time.

If *I* am cutting for you, under the supervision of any of the managers at *our* store, and you need 10 yards, and the bolt you choose has two pieces on it; an 8 yard piece and a 2 yard piece, I personally know the backdoor sequence of buttons to use on the handheld scanning device to give you a discount on the second smaller piece that will match the discount on your coupon (which you will use for the larger piece). And my manager gives me the Ok to do so. ;)

Its not your fault someone chopped your piece of fabric in two pieces. :thumbsup2

ETA: Your Mileage May Vary... some stores may not be as nice as ours...
