I am going this weekend and haven't purchased my tickets yet (2 adults, 4 day regular or park hopper). I was in Sam's Club the other day and they were selling Disney gift cards, I don't remember the denomination but I think it was either $50 or $100, with the purchase (at full amount) you got a free $10 card as a bonus.

Since its so hard to find a discount on the ticket prices I thought maybe this would be the way to go, purchase the tickets with gift cards then have the $10 bonus cards for buying souvenirs.

Does anyone know if you can do this? Are these cards only good for purchases at the Disney Store?? Anyone have more info???

Thanks

Jill

You can use the giftcards to buy tickets but not the bonus cards which are only valid for Disney Store or disneystore.com

Yes, you can use gift cards to purchase the tickets at the window. The only thing to keep in mind is that you can only use 3 forms of payment per transaction. So if you're buying a $250 ticket, you can't use 5 $50 gift cards.

I got one of the Disney Sam's Club gift cards for Christmas. It is for $100, which says it can be used at participating locations at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Store locations, Disneystore.com, Disneyphotopass.com, and Adventures by Disney. The $10 bonus card says it can only be used at disneystore.com and participating disney store retail locations. It also unfortunately says it is not accepted at World of Disney stores:sad2: I too was hoping to go and buy a bunch of the gift cards and use the bonus cards for souvenirs at Disney World. Oh well.

Just to clarify, I can buy a $100 gift card a month and use it toward the purchase of a $300 ticket? And is this 100% positive info?

ETA: Ok, I looked on the WDW website and it does include ticketing and hotels! Yay :)

We used 16 of the $100 gift cards in December when buying our annual passes at Magic Kingdom. :confused3

Two parts to this answer.

1. The special $10 "bonus" cards are valid only at The Disney Store or online at www.disneystore.com and cannot be used at the Parks or Resortsd.

2. Based on a change a few months ago, you can now use an unlimited number of Disney Gift Cards on a transaction at any WDW Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Office.

3. You can also apply Disney Gift Cards to your room account, as long as it is done prior to checkout, and any KTTW charges will be applied to them before the credit card on file.

Since the $10 bonus card can be used at a Disney store, can you use the $100 GC plus the $10 bonus GC to buy tickets at the Disney store?

No, the $10 card can only be use for merchandise. It says on the card that it can't be applied to tickets bought at Disney Stores.

So theoretically, someone could buy a $50 GC every other week for however long it would take to pay for their tickets and hotel?

Thank you OP. I read this post in the beginning of the month but didn't take much out of it since we are not sams members. Then I read it again and figured it was worth it to join for this alone. After being told 2x that the only SAMs near us didnt have any we drove there anyway. Purchased 18 for $1780 and got $180 in disney store cards! It was worth the $40 to join! Now the princesses dresses I was going to buy are going to be FREE!

Also wanted to mention the cost of the $100 GC at Sam's is $97.88 a savings of $2.12! So if you buy 10 cards you will get a bonus savings of $21.20 plus 10 Disney.com gift cards or 10 X $10 = $100 + 21.20 for and extra $121.20 in savings!

I feel stupid. I bought a $25 GC today and thought it could be used for souvieners and restaurants, but it can't can it? I was gonna buy $25 a week. Tickets and room are paid for,

I was able to use 8 gift cards to buy 2 of the 10 park hoppers and had no issues. I bought the tickets that the animal kingdom park

This is not correct. It was changed over a year ago, and you can use an unlimited number of Disney Gift Cards on ticket purchases.

And the only places where you cannot use a Disney Gift Card at WDW are certain small carts which don't accept any charges or certain food and merchandise that are not owned and operated by Disney, although most will take them.
