Can you upgrade a ticket from a package you haven't used to AP voucher?

I currently have an AP that I used last Feb. and will use again before it expires next January. If I get a package and get SPD, I would get a 10 day pass but not activate it for the parks. If I took it to guest services at the park before I enter the fist time for that trip, can I get the adult value of my SPD ticket toward an AP voucher? If not, if I save the 10 day ticket for our next trip after that, can I then upgrade to an AP after first use and get the value of an adult ticket or only the value of a child's. :confused3

If I get a package and get SPD,

1. I would get a 10 day pass but not activate it for the parks.

2. If I took it to guest services at the park before I enter the fist time for that trip, can I get the adult value of my SPD ticket toward an AP voucher?

If not,

3. if I save the 10 day ticket for our next trip after that,

4. can I then upgrade to an AP after first use and get the value of an adult ticket or only the value of a child's. :confused3

1. Why would you get a 10-day ticket and not use it? (What is SPD?) Is is a "child's" ticket?

2. Why would you take it for upgrade BEFORE you used the ticket?

3. Why would you decide to use the ticket one time before upgrade on the SECOND trip,
but NOT use the ticket one time before upgrade on the FIRST trip?

4. Regardless, you CAN upgrade to an AP on either trip, but I'm not sure
what an SPD ticket is, so I don't know how much you will get for it in the
upgrade transaction.

More info please.

Not the OP but "Single Park Day" maybe?

Stay, Play, Dine package

OK, we'll assume that.

1. Why would you get a 10-day ticket and not use it?
Is the ticket you are purchasing a "child's" ticket?

2. Why would you take it for upgrade BEFORE you used the ticket?
In nearly all cases it cannot HURT to use a ticket at least one time to enter
a theme park BEFORE upgrading that ticket, and in some cases it can HELP, price-wise.

3. Why would you decide to use the ticket one time before upgrade on the SECOND trip,
but NOT use the ticket one time before upgrade on the FIRST trip?
Why would you treat this situation differently for the second trip than for the first?

4. Regardless, you CAN upgrade to an AP on either trip.
If you USE the 10-day ticket at least one time to enter
a theme park BEFORE upgrading that ticket, your ticket will "become worth"
the price of that ticket BRAND NEW at the gate that day in the upgrade transaction.

So, use the ticket first, then upgrade it.

If it's a child ticket, you'll get the gate-price value of a new child's ticket of the same type in the upgrade transaction.

If it's an adult ticket, you'll get the gate-price value of a new adult ticket of the same type in the upgrade transaction.

With SPD, you get an Adult ticket at child's rate. The reason for not activating it first before getting the AP is it would mean the AP would activate from that date. I won't need the AP this trip as I have an activated AP now. I would be purchasing an AP voucher instead.

I think you will have to hold the ticket from the package until you are ready to buy the actual AP. I don't think you can upgrade to a voucher.

The resorts use different approaches to get guests to book. They could have a sale on room prices, a sale on ticket prices, a special dining package promotion. They're all resort stay reductions framed in different ways. An adult SPD ticket is worth the same as a regular adult MYW ticket when doing an upgrade. The one thing OP has to be careful about it, during the time between receiving the SPD tickets and using them towards an AP upgrade, is Disney may increase ticket prices. If OP does her upgrade without using her SPD ticket to enter a theme park first, she would get credit for what the SPD ticket was worth at the time it was issued, and owe the price increase along with the cost to upgrade to AP. If OP uses her SPD ticket first before doing her upgrade to AP, her SPD ticket will be bridged to current gate price when calculating the AP upgrade.

OP, you have an AP to use. If you get an SPD ticket and it's on your MB along with your AP, I would have it removed onto plastic media at a park Guest Relations office or park Ticket Booth. That way, it wouldn't get used accidentally instead of your AP. Take the plastic media home with you until the WDW visit where you'll be doing your upgrade.
