Can you upgrade a SoCal City Pass for more days at DL?

If so, how much did you pay? It comes with 3 days, and we'd really like 4. The guy I talked to at DL said I'd pay the difference between the total price I paid for the pass and the 4 day gate price, but that doesn't make sense to me because the pass is $269, and a 4 day ticket is $229! Can anyone out there help me figure this out? Thanks!

Perhaps there is a way to get credit/gift card for the city pass and then use that to buy the 4 day that is assuming the 3 day was unused.

We purchased our SoCal passes through Costco and I paid $239 for adults and $204 for kids and I was told they would charge me the pre-purchase price at the gate and someone said that was $179 and then I would have to pay the difference to upgrade. Not sure if this is accurate since I haven't done it yet. It's just things I've read.

What has happened when upgrading is that you're given the value of a 3 day ticket (prepurchase price, yes, I believe that's right) towards the upgrade. Which, when you think about it, means the other stuff on there is almost free! Anyway, so you pay the difference between the price of the ticket you are upgrading to (I think it's gate price) and the value of a 3 day prepurchase ticket.
