Can you upgrade a DVC reservation at check-in?

I rented points for the BCV. When I made the reservation (well, when the owner of the points did) there were no one or two bedrooms available so we took a studio. Is it possible for me to ask at check-in if I can get a bigger room if it is available (Last minute cancellation)? If so, how do they handle that (money-wise)?

Cash and points can not be mixed. The only way this would be possible would be to cancel your ressie, book some days on points and some days on cash. HOWEVER, you would NOT be able to do that, as you are not the owner of those points, the DVC member is, and always retains complete control of those points. Plus, point ressies can not be canceled on the day of arrival, all of the points used are considered "spent" on the morning of check-in. If you try to re-arrange at least 1 day prior to arrival, it would depend on 1) if you had enough points available 2) if the desired accomodations were available 3) if there were some days available for cash. The member would have to go through the hassle of rearranging the point portion of your ressie and you would be responsible for booking the cash nights (and you would have to book through CRO, not MS, since you are not a member, therefor any member cash discount would not be available to you.)

I am sorry to say that there are no cash upgrades available at check in. If the owner had more points and was willing to rent them to you, he/she could go on a wait list for a 2BR that could be in effect up to 7 days before you arrive.
