Can You Trust Tempurature Checks?

We have been to Disney a few times last week. The last time we thought we would ask what our temperature was after they checked it. They said my wife was 92 degrees and I was the same. WHAT!! Normal is around 98.6 and hypothermia is around 95. Where does 92 put me? If it really was 92 degrees, shouldn't the people checking have other concerns about my health?

Not at WDW, but my daughter has often been told 92 at school.

No, you cannot trust them. They are using infrared "no touch" thermometers that measure SKIN SURFACE TEMPERATURE, which is going to always be very different than core temperature.

Plus, over 40% of infected people have ZERO symptoms and somewhere around 80% never develop fever as a symptom.

The temperature checks are a useless waste of time.

My opinion - it's a show - make people feel comfortable/safe. If one is asymptomatic........what good is it. Maybe I am missing something. I am willing to listen and learn.

If I have a temperature, I am not going anywhere )wether or not there is/might be a temperature check).

I also question any temperature checks except perhaps in doctor offices, hospitals etc. Who knows whether someone has been taken tylenol etc. beforehand to allow entry.

Not long after the pandemic began my 92 year old mother living in a retirement community became ill (from a UTI as it turned out) but because she was afraid of being labeled as having Covid 19 she was taking heavy doses of tylenol making their temperature checks worthless. I was furious when I heard and told her to stop so they could properly diagnose her illness. I also let her personal care nurses know.
