I have a small contract with points that I want to get rid of by transferring the points to somebody else and I was asked whether I was willing to also transfer next year´s points. Can you do that ? Transer the 2022 and the 2023 year points together to the same person ? How do you go about that ? Thanks

You are entitled to transfer points once per use year, and are allowed, at any given time, to transfer from the current use year that you are already in or the next use year, or both, and thus you can do two transfers at once. Note, however, not all MS personnel understand you can do that double transfer in one call and thus sometimes one will say you can only transfer in one use year. If you get that problem, just do one transfer and then call separately and do the second.

Nevertheless, if transferring to the same person, make sure it is clearly known by the recipient that transferred points can be banked but not borrowed, i.e., if you transfer points in both years to another, the ones from the current use year can be banked (as long as the banking deadline has not expired) and thus the recipient can use both sets for a trip in the next use year. However, if the recipient is intending to use transferred points for a trip in the current use year, he can only use the points transferred from the current use year.

Thanks for the info, how about the dues then ? I haven´t paid for next year´s dues yet and I don´t even know how much that would be. Will the new owner be responsible for that ?

You are responsible for all dues and next year's dues, which are based on a calendar year not use year, will include amounts for your total ownership interest, and thus total points you own, regardless of whether points have been transferred, borrowed or banked. In other words, for example, if you purchased a total of 50 points, your annual dues will always be for those 50 points regardless of how you use them.

That makes sense. Thanks !
