Hey all,

Im considering a Disney Wedding Cruise and thus far have heard only good things about the experience. From flowers to cake, everyone seems thrilled with the cruise. I was just wondering what everyone here thinks. Did anyone have a Disney wedding cruise? How did it go? Was the staff helpful in planning? Did friends and family enjoy it? Would you recommend Castaway Cay or a Shipboard ceremony? Also, how was the photographer? Please let me know ANYTHING you can.

Thanks,
Nicole

We are getting married on the cruise next year. Our invitations go out in the morning. We told our parents last w/e and everyone is excited. I think the keys is to put as much information our there as possible, reserve some cabins, and make sure to pic a date far enough out so the cruise will not be booked. We are giving people a year to prepare. We chose onboard because we are not religious and prefer the ship captain. Sorry i can't answer the been there done that questions but i think we will enjoy it and we're looking forward to it.

I will be able to give you a good answer in about a month. I am getting married aboard the ship on the "secret deck 7" I just had my license signed and mailed back and they are supposed to be sending me an overview of everything again here in a couple of weeks.

I am a little under 3 months to go...Please let us know how it goes!!!!!!!

I have seen a few people's photos from thier wedding cruises and they look beautiful. I don't really know if I would do Castaway Cay or onboard. Any advice? We know that we'd have about 20 people. The package says it includes only 8 guests. What does that mean really? I understand we'd have to pay more for cake and champaign...is there anything else we'd need to pay more for?

Also, did anyone else pay the extra to have thier guests join them at Palo? I was thinking that would be nice.

It seems that they for sure do hair on the ship? Does the salon also do makeup?

We did a vow renewal in January, and it went very smoothly. You speak with Cathy in Disney Weddings before you get on the ship and then have a coordinator on the ship you are on. Before you take off, you choose your flowers, music, cake, date, time. When you get on board, you discuss the rest of the details; photos, spa times, etc.

We had 20+ people, so we had to pay an extra $10 for each person after the 10th for the extra cake and champagne....although we had more kids than adults and they had gingerale. At Palo, we paid the extra $10 for each adult that we had, we had a total of 10 at dinner including us. (I think Palo is $15 now.) Other than that, you don't pay any extra for them. I did give each family a 5 x 7 from the professional photos of their individual family and one of us so that was a little more $ also.

We had the service in Sessions; we were told that 20 people on deck 7 would be too much, but after seeing Betsy's photos, I think we could have fit since half of the group were kids.

The captain stays with you for about 30 minutes....although if you are getting married, I don't know if he is the one who actually performs the service?

We had our hair done on the ship....they don't do kids....and I did see that they had a make-up station, so I am sure that is available.

The day of the service...or maybe the night before, I can't remember....they send out a really nice invite to those who are invited. Makes a really nice keepsake (you get one also).

It has been 6 months, so some of the details are getting lost in my mind...you can always read my TR for more info....just know that it was the best thing we ever did and my son really enjoyed being there for the whole thing.

Are you having a wedding or a vow renewal..I think a reception in Palo is included with a wedding..a VR the Palo is just for the 2 of you

We had a VR and had Cathy arrange a dinner in the Palo Room for immediatly after the VR..we were suppose to pay $15pp for the 11 extra guests at dinner, but as a gift..our guests picked up the check (naughty guests!! )

the link to my pictures are below and we have a DCL VR thread here too
with lots of past and present advice

They do hair on the ship, however, depending on the cruise it depends on whether or not a make up artist is available. They don't always have one. It is not something they can tell you in advance either. *believe me I tried*. A wedding is a total of ten people including the bride and groom. You have an hour long wedding/celebration. The captain chooses your wedding time if you are having the ceremony on board. You only find out the times about a month in advance. Actually you don't really see anything in paper until about a month before your wedding, that your actually having a wedding. I would have to say, I found that to be the only flaw in the process. They take care of getting a florida license for you as well. You can have a reception at palo or I think you can do it on the deck. There is also a choice of using the cadillac lounge as well.
