Can you tell me about the GCA rooms/suites?

I would like a 2 room suite. Master...DOOR...kids area. They can sleep on a rollaway & sofa fold out no problem.

Does this exist & if not, how hard is it to get a 2 rooms connected? We were considering the 1st weekend of February.

From reading on here it seems like requests aren't always honored. What can I do to guarantee I get what I need? Whether it's two rooms or whatever...

Also...HOW do I request this? On getawaytoday AND disney site I cannot upgrade my room...do I have to call this in?

If I can't have what I want, I'll just go to DI&S ...they were cheap & simple but I got 2 rooms for a fraction of the cost! :wizard:

You might want to check out the 1-bedroom Artisan Suites (although they may be more expensive than two connecting rooms). There are four versions of these and you can see the layouts at http://disneylandmeetings.disney.go.com/dlm/index?id=ArtisanQQSuitePage. Either 1 king or 2 queen beds in the bedroom, plus a sleeper sofa in the living room. There are doors separating the bedroom from the living room, and in three of the layouts, the bathroom can be entered directly from the living room without having to go through the bedroom. The rooms are scattered throughout the hotel, with different views.

I stayed in one of the King Artisan suites a couple years ago, and loved it! The room overlooked Downtown Disney and was above the Anne Geddes store. Great view of Disneyland and the fireworks. :thumbsup2 The only thing I didn't like was that I could still hear the music being played in Downtown Disney, even with all the doors and windows closed; it was a bit distracting at times, since the music plays throughout the day and into the evening.

You might also want to see if the new Grand Californian Villas will be available for cash booking. The Villas open in Sept and typically DVC reserves some rooms for cash bookings. They offer 1 bedrooms which have a full kitchen, 2 bath and sleep 5, and 2 bedrooms that have 3 bath and sleep 9. Not sure what the pricing would be, but a good alternative to the hotel suites. Also, most of these will have pool or DCA views.

PM if you want more info on the rooms...

Everytime I go MIA on these boards I have to learn all over again...

ANYWAY...WHAT exactly ARE the "Artisan Suites"?? Just fancy suites in the GCA? Do I just call to inquire (besides the link you gave, THANKS!) ?

Artisan is just the name that the Grand Californian uses for these suites.

When I stayed there, I booked through AAA, so the agent took care of the details. If you're not using a travel agent, I would recommend just calling the hotel directly, especially if you are looking to reserve a particular suite layout and/or view.

Just wanted make sure that you knew that the GCH has no roll-away beds, just sleeping bags and mats for your child to sleep on the floor :confused3

Good to know - I haven't RE-READ all of the details/amenities yet so that's helpful. We usually bring the ReadyBed w/ us everywhere just in case. I sure wish they'd make a room w/ a kids suite...you know, with a DOOR.

You should definitely look into renting the villas at GC. We bought into DVC for VGC because we like to come to DL for about a week each year and the 1 bedroom and above all have full kitchens, washer/dryers, and lots of space. But GCH will be renting out some of the villas for a cash rate. They open on September 23rd and I am so excited! The one bedroom has a king size bed in the bedroom and a murphy bed (single) and pull-out (double) in the livingroom area. The 2 bedrooms are like the one bedroom but either attached to a studio (queen and pullout) or a dedicated two bedroom will have 2 queens in the second room. Did I mention that I am really excited?
