Can you take food (popcorn & soda) on WDW railroad

Can you take food on the WDW railroad like popcorn and a Coke?

I'm pretty sure they make you finish everything before boarding.

If you have one of the plastic popcorn buckets, they will ask you to put the top on it. They also won't allow you to wait in the queue area with food or open drink. They made us cover or dispose of everything before entering the line and the train wasn't even in sight.
