Can you take a 2 month old on any rides?

I don't want to sound like a crazy mother by asking this, lol. But is it ok to take a 2 month old on the calmer rides like It's A Small World and Pirates and just have him on my lap or in a carrier that would be strapped to my chest? Do they allow you to do that?

Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

Yes you can!! There are very few rides in DL that an infants cannot ride. I took my youngest DS when he was 3 months old. There are a few with height restrictions, including Matterhorn, Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, Thunder Mtn, Indiana Jones, Star Tours. Then there are a few with age requirements such as Autopia & Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin. I think thats it, but I may have missed one or two.

Yep, everything a pregnant woman can ride..or for that matter a 2 year old :) I was worried about this when we went but my 2 year old got on almost EVERYTHING. Disneyland really is for all ages!!

I'd be careful on a couple of the 'dark rides' like Wild Ride (isn't it jolty?) but most of the fantasyland stuff was super easy going. I bet Dumbo puts your 2 month old right out ;)

Oh, that is good! I probably won't take him on too many, but it's nice to know it's an option. Why not start him out young as long as he enjoys it! :)

Thanks again!

Use the carrier. We took our 6 mos old on some rides using the Bjorn carrier. He went on Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Small World, Heimlich's ride in Bugsland, Casey Jr, Storybook Canal, Pooh ride. The carrier helped to make sure he was secure & it was easier to hold him (especially his head) if the ride was a little wilder than we expected. If there was a ride we weren't sure to take him on, either DH or I would ride 1st & then decide. DS at 6 mos also loved the parades. Lots of characters came up to him too.
Use the baby care center as well.

Mine have both been going on most rides since 5.5 months old, with the exception of the coasters of course. I did use the Bjorn on Pirates and IASW. Someone pretty much wore the kids most of the time. Then we'd put them in the stroller to stretch out on occasion or to nap.

This is the complete list of attraction an infant can experience.

While infants startle they don't panick like toddlers will and can be immune to many special effects. But if the temperment on any given day of a baby is not right, you may feel uncomfortable taking a crying baby on Small World with the other guests who will be stuck on the boat listening to your child. This should be your biggest concern.

Andrea the other thing to keep in mind is the volume of the music in these rides. This wasn't anything I really paid attention to until we took the twins for the first time when they were almost 2yrs old. We were pre-warned about this because of the autism but infants are just as sensitive to noises.

The slow moving ones will be the best (boats, dumbo, etc). We thought Peter Pan would be ok, but there is some jerkiness & a feeling of tipping forward that really freaked them out.

If you have any more specific questions.....hit me up on FB!

That is good to keep in mind, never thought much about the sounds. I did think that the sounds in Pirates might be much. Particularity the part with the cannons on the ship. Thank you! If I think of anything else, and I probably will, I will ask. :)

Whatever you decide to do, please don't be that completely classless (and clueless) couple I saw with an infant (STILL WITH UMBILICAL CORD, FOR PETE'S SAKE) naked except for a diaper, in December, at night, in the cold (low 50s!).

Aw, that poor little baby. No, I won't be like that. Love him too much! Things like that make me sad. :(

Yeah, my 6 mos old did not like Pirates at all. The dark along with the thunder sounds & cannons were too much for him. He screamed the whole slow ride & I felt terrible for him & the poor people who had to endure it.

I was just about to post something bc we will be traveling with daughter and she will be 5 months old at the time of our travel in October. Obviously we will be doing ride swap with our 5 and 7 year old boys! At least they get to ride the rides twice! Very helpful. :wizard:

This is nice information. We are going to DLR in August and are bringing our 7 month old son w/ us. I knew that most the rides didn't have any height requirements but I wasn't sure how practical it was to carry them on the rides. It's nice to see that others have brought their little ones on the rides w/ them w/out too many problems.

There was a really small baby in the Tiki room who was having a blast with all the birds, singing, and fountian display. It seems like most little ones would enjoy it.

DS will be 7 months when we go in October and I can't wait to take him on some of the rides! I'll bring our Bjorn just in case I decide to wear it. But he's a big boy and I'm thinking he'll be a little to heavy for me to wear comfortably for any extended period of time by then.
DD did great with characters from a young age and i'm so hoping DS is the same way!

Oh yes, my kids would sing along on Pirates as soon as they knew the words, like <2 years old. I'd shush them though, out of fear of ruining it for the other passengers. They did however, say it was "cute" but I didn't want to chance it that they were just being polite. Respect for fellow passengers goes a long way...

OP, you'd only be a "crazy mom" (as you say) if you decided to change a diaper in public. *That* in my book, would qualify you.
Why do people do that, btw???? Why oh why. :confused3

Took DS when he was 3 months old to WDW, he did REALLY well on everything he went on. My DD went when she was 6 months old and didn't do so great. Guess it matters on the child. My DD was terrified of ALL the characters up until last year. When we took her to her first character breakfast when she was 3, she hid under the table almost the entire time.:lmao:

People seriously amaze me.

So here's a question...how young is too young? (my LO will be 2 so just asking out of curiosity).

Rides, yes, and the single best resource for infants is the Baby Care Center. It's at the end of Main Street by the Corn Dog Cart. They have very cushy, padded changing tables, private nursing rooms with rocking chairs, high chairs, a microwave to heat up formula, baby necessities for sale, etc. When DS needs a change, we always head there.
