Can you switch a ressie with a code...

Unfortunately, we may need to cancel our ressie for our upcoming trip in less than 2 weeks... :sad2:

I booked this ressie for December back in September when the room-only codes came out. Question is - can you switch resorts and still get the rate with the code even after the code has expired?

I'd like to remain on property, but may have to switch offsite :scared1:

Any advice is appreciated.

You might be able to switch resorts even though the code has expired, but you will have to speak to Guest Services and have them check if the resort is available with that code.

I believe the front line CM's will not show any availability at any resort with an expired code.

Good Luck!

Our ressies are for a 1 BR Villa at SSR and I want to know if they'll let me switch to another resort and still use the code, or will I have to pay full rack rate on the new resort.

The other option of course is to cancel it completely and stay offsite :sad2:

Since only a select # of rooms are available with a discount, you will need to call the main WDW reservtion number and ask to have Guest Services check if the discount is available at the resort you are looking to switch to.

The front line reservations folks will try to help, but if the code is expired, they will not show room availability with the discount.

I will try to give them a call tonight, but the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort is starting to look really good for the price. I can save $500 and get a 2 BR there! What to do...what to do? I hate making these decisions.

I know! It is really hard to decide. Hope you can get the discount to stay on site...

Be prepared, you may need to be polite but firm to get the CM to check with Guest Services. When I was in that situation, the reservations Cast Member tried so hard, but I knew it was for nothing. Finally I got to speak with GS and got my resort switched while keeping my 40% discount. (Gave the original CM a great survey response for trying!).

If it helps, what I do is see if we are going to be at WDW the whole time or if we have off-site activities planned (Sea World, Universal). If we will be doing other things, we stay off site. (IMO, no point of spending big $$ if we won't be at WDW to enjoy) If we will be exclusively at WDW, we stay on site to take advantage of Magical Express (save on the rental car) and the dining plan.

We stayed off site at the Marriot Grand Vista 1BR (my friend has interval point and we stayed as his guest) and it was great having the extra room and kitchen. If you want to stay on site at one of the villas and the discount is not available, you can check out the DVC Planning boards to look into renting points, which will be quite a bit cheaper than booking through WDW.

Good Luck!

I called after the cut-off date of my code and was able to switch resorts, and still got the discount at the new resort (and was surprised by that).

The CM kept trying to make the change then, when she realized I had a code, put me on hold and contacted Guest Services. They made the change, then the original CM took my credit card number and charged the difference (I moved from CBR to WL so it was more $$$).

Good luck!

Before cancelling, I asked if it was possible to switch resorts and the rates they gave were rack rates (the CM was polite). I didn't make a big deal about asking to contact Guest Services because all that was available was CBR and POP - and I began to think WBC 2 BR Villa is a good deal for the savings. Regular hotel room or separate bedroom for MIL and a jacuzzi for the same price as CBR---I think I'll take Door #2!!!

I'll let you all know how it was when we get back!

Thanks for all the advice (and support).
