I've decided to rent a car for the full week we will be at WDW. We will need to eat 2 of our dinners at a counter service place. Without the car, we were pretty much limited to eating at Pop. But since I have the car, I can drive us to any of the resorts. Do you have any suggestions for quick service meals at any of the resorts? (Note - we will not be in the parks late these two days... AK one day and Typhoon Lagoon the other - I've booked all of my allotment of TS meals, so I am only looking for CS options).

Resort TS ADR's include Boma and Whispering Canyon. Would like to see other resorts besides AKL and WL. I've also seen Beaches and Cream and Pepper Market, and would like to see one of the many other places. Any suggestions?

:thanks:

FYI: Beaches and Cream is a TS, not a CS. Other than the Pepper Market I don't know of a resort CS that I'd make a special trip for. How about Wolfgang Puck's CS place in DTD though?

use the waterpaks cs we love the pulled pork bbq sandwich from them and you can get your ice cream later from what i have heard (they give you a token)

If you look at the CS menus for the resorts at Allear.com you might see something you like. My opinion is that POP has a better CS than most of the other resorts, with the possible exception of the Pepper Market (never been.)

I do know DD and I took a break from MK one day and checked out the monarail resort's CS. Mostly burgers and chicken fingers; nothing to get excited about (IMHO.)

I think the values have the most options, followed by the moderates and then the deluxes. Maybe they assume the people in deluxes have enough money to eat all TS. :confused3

The Wolfgang Puck Express in DDT is a good CS, as is Earl of Sandwich (not a good value if you're looking for bang for your buck.)

Enjoy and eat well!

At DTD, Earl of Sandwich is good. At SSR, Artist's Palatte (note--this is different than Artist's Point!) has great flatbread pizza. The chicken caesar salad is good, but not really worth a special trip.

Beaches and cream has a take out window, but only the sit-down TS is on the DDP.

if you really want to check out resort CS some ppl make a trip over to POFQ.. Also Mara over at AKL..Beyond that Id stick to WPE (very good CS) EOS or the POP food court which I hear is pretty good too..

We have had several excellent meals at Pepper Market at Coronado Springs= Rib eye steaks and prime rib were my two favorites, DH doesn't eat beef but found a pasta dish one time and a Chinese meal another DGD really liked the fajita platter. The good thing is the entree variety that is offered. The bad thing is the dessert is limited to one or two items- Will definitely be going back there for some CS meals.

My recommendations are:

1/2 chicken dinner (or chicken and ribs dinner) at POFQ - the chicken was super moist and you get to choose 2 sides. Other than the fact it's on a paper plate, I'd say it's at the same level as your neighbour hood restaurant (for Canadians, it's not Swiss Chalet but it's just as good)

Shrimp dinner at Mara (AKL). Actually they have a number of good choices and of course you can get zebra domes for your dessert (they are in the fridge part and come 3 zebra domes and 3 mousses in a package).

Pepper Market - whats the 2 dessert choices?
Mara - 3 zebra domes - whats the cost of that pkg? wouldnt they limit it to 1?

In April it was a very large cookie or a muffin- didn't care as dessert is not generally a big issue with us. Took the cookies to go and munched on them the next day. After the prime rib, baked potato and roasted veggies I couldn't have eaten any more if I tried. I guess they have different carved meats on different days but the rib eye steaks are there all the time as is chicken and usually some type of fish for the grill.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions... sounds like the Pepper Market is one of the most popular. I agree, it is very good. I had a few meal vouchers when I went in 2004, so we went over there after getting some recommendations from other DIS readers. I could still go over there again, since I do remember it being a lot of food. But I am still kind of wanting to use this as an excuse to see more resorts. I've never stayed onsite before, and have only seen (a little) of Coronado Springs and the Yacht and Beach Club. I made ressies at Wilderness Lodge and AKL so we could go check those out. :magnify: Lookin' to squeeze in another one or two...

If it were me, I'd get something to go from Tusker House on the AK day - check out the dinner menu (from the DIS Restaurant Menu section):

Entree/Main Course

Vegetable Sandwich - Marinated veggies on a focaccia bread with hummus spread, served with fresh fruit. - $7.29

The 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetbles sounds pretty good to me - even though it's breakfast time here right now, LOL.

Best wishes -

I second the Tusker House as a CS credit. DDP tends to turn into SO much meat, ribs, and BBQ that the Tusker House is always a welcome change of pace. I've gotten the veggie sandwich the past two years and it comes with a generous side of fresh fruit.
