Can you still bring back old resort mugs?

I know this has been asked a lot but I've been away from the boards for a while and I didn't know if they had changed the policy yet. I have mugs for the ASMo from our last few visits and we are planning a trip next summer, can I bring them back and use them again.? We will be staying at the ASMo. I thought I had read that they were trying to change the policy. Can you still just walk up and fill the mugs or do you now have to go through the lines?

I've heard that you are NOT suppose to use old mugs, but I don't know how strict they are about it, whether they actually have someone standing guard making sure everyone's mugs are up to date.

When I stayed at the Poly this summer the mugs were not bar coded like I was led to believe they were doing.

I see this question asked a lot on these boards. Last May I used
our mugs from a previous trip to the All Star Movies. We were
staying at the Sports. No one ever said anything to
me about using the mugs. I saw other people with mugs the
same as mine using them. Some people had mugs from other
resorts. It is a self serve area where you fill them up, and no
one really pays attention. I say use them. All they can say is
buy a new one!!!

You are going to get varying opinions on this. YOu might want to do a search on this topic and you will see what I mean. I think there was a rather lengthy one a couple months ago.

According to many - and I guess including Disney ... official Disney policy is that they are good only for length of stay.

According to many ... they were told they are good for a lifetime...at that particular resort. They bring them back and use them.

In reality ... CMs let you use old mugs at the hotel you bought them at and also at other hotels, too.

There was a rumor that they were going to barcode mugs and put in new systems. They did this at one of the waterparks but have not, to my knowledge, done this at the resorts.

So, I guess you really have to go with what you believe to be right and what you were told when you purchased them.

We just got back from AS Music and I used last year's mug for the whole week. We bought a new one for DH as our dog chewed his up. I was not sneaky about using my mug and I had no problems using it. I also saw other people using older mugs. I don't think you will have a problem.
