I'm sure this has been asked before, and sorry if I missed it, but can anyone recommend a good lightweight stroller for my dd who is just under 40 lbs.? She still likes to ride in the stroller (she's 4) and I'd like to get a new one before we go on vacation. I think I read about the Kite Lite? stroller by Graco somewhere. Would this be good for her size/weight? Thanks for any responses!

We really like our Kolcraft semi-recline umbrella stroller. We have even sold our expensive Perego stroller in favour of the Kolcraft! Our DD who was 4 last year and was around 37 lb rode around DL in it. It's a semi-recline, which was great for naps, and because it's an umbrella stroller, we didn't have to check it in when we went on the plane.

I bought it through babystyle.com when it was on sale for $11.99 and shipping was free. I don't think they have that deal anymore--but it's still a great stroller! (BTW, I was alerted to this stroller by reading these Discussion Boards!)

Yes, but does the Kolcraft umbrella stroller have a basket?

I think a basket is a MUST on a WDW vacation (or even to the mall).

The Kite Lite is a wonderful stroller, only problem I see for an older child is the snack tray for them getting in the way but you could leave that off and also when it reclines, your child might be too tall for that.

Now, I do love this stroller and it's pretty lightweight for what it has/does, but it does NOT fold compact like umbrella strollers just so you know. It's sort of between an umbrella stroller and a big bulky stroller.

I think if its for an older child, there are umbrella strollers that would be perfect and very light weight that have shade and a basket. The biggest selection I've ever seen is Babies R Us or Baby Depot and they both have websites you can check out!

Good luck!

Hi - In reply to your question about the Graco KiteLite, I just bought it and got it in the mail (in 2days!) -- got a Babies R Us coupon from internet for $5 off $35, which paid for shipping -- it was like $43 and some change delivered....it is awesome! I loooove it -- cupholder for child, 2 cupholders for adults, big basket, reclines, lightweight, great suspension, great canopy, etc. Good luck in the "stroller hunt" -- I'm a stroller fanatic -- ha

Hi guys i just bought a combi subv stroller at bluelight.com It holds up to 45 lbs, and it folds up so small that it fits in an overhead compartment on a plane! It has a basket and it reclines, too. Combi is normally an expensive brand, but it was availible at bluelight.com for 49.99 plus i found a coupon code that takes 10.00 off a 50.00 purchase.I bought something really small ( like 2.00) to put me over 50.00. I ordered it two days ago and got it today! And the shipping was only 5.95 ! It was a great deal, and my son loves the stroller so much already that he keeps trying to get into it!

Hope this helps,
Sherrie

rhiannonwales,

That looks great! I'm just wondering how tall it is? My husband hates when the handle is too low and hurts his back.

Thanks!

Hi Beattyfamily!

In response to your question, the Kolcraft does not have a basket. What we put on it is a mesh bag.

Last year when we went to DL, we put diapers, snacks, a small cooler bag of milk bottles, and whatever was not too valuable in the mesh bag. Then, we put whatever was valuable (camera, extra clothes, etc.) in a backpack that we could bring on a ride with us.

At least, that's my considered opinion. I have a super-umbrella (a Maclaren) which has a small basket on it. I put a lunchbox size cooler w/ a shoulder strap in there, but everything else (including water bottles) goes into a lightweight backpack that is slung over the stroller handles. The backpack goes into ride lines and into restaurants, so we have things with us at the time they are most likely to be needed.

Remember that you MUST fold your stroller to get it onto any transportation you take, including the trams from the parking lots. If you have a bunch of loose stuff in the basket, you will be in an awkward position to get it folded quickly. Also, if your stuff is in the basket and your child is sleeping reclined, you may not be able to get to it. A bag on the back works MUCH better in the parks, IME. Take only what you really need, and try to minimize the weight of it all.

beattyfamily,,

The stroller is actually high off the ground. I'm only 5'2 and it is a little high for me..... the handles are almost up to my shoulders. I'm used to things being the wrong height though so i didn't mind. It is still easy to push. The one thing i will warn of is that the stroller feels a little loose in the joints. It is still sturdy, but it is built to have a little give in the joints so that it can fold compactly.I put it through an endurance test, on rocks, dirt, and one extremely energetic 2 1/2 year old and it is still like new. I LOVE this stroller, and i would reccommend it to anyone who is looking for a good lightweight stroller for WDW.

Sherrie
