One of the physical therapy exercises I am *supposed* to do is to spread my toes to the side <-----------> and eventually put a rubber band around them to increase resistance.

But I CAN'T spread my toes! I have been working and concentrating and I can't get the darn things to spread. DH can-- he just moves them from side to side.

Maybe this is like the tongue rolling thing? Some people can do it and some can't?

Can you?

(hey I am bored and it isn't a political thread!)

I can spread my toes! And I can roll my tongue.

But I'm also freakishly double jointed so maybe I don't count?

Yes, I can. When I was little my mother told me that if you can't spread your toes, you aren't washing between them. I practiced and practiced and 30 years later I can still spread 'em. Just keep trying- it is learnable!! I also learned that my mom was full of it...:rotfl:

yup. i can even use my big toe like a thumb... used to be able to write with my left foot... makes dw mad,, i pick stuff up with mine so i dont have to bend over.

Hey!! I do this too! We call them "Magic Toes". :thumbsup2

DD abd I both pick things up with our toes...we call it monkey feet or monkey toes

and yes I can spread the out too

I use to be able to do that with both feet, but now only a little on my right foot. :sad1: I could pick all kind of things up with them also.

But with all of my nerve damage it's all I can do to wiggle them.

Yep, I can spread my toes too. I can also move just my pinky toe by itself, most of my friends can't do this. I use them like hands. I hate bending down to pick stuff up. I've never tried to write with them.. but I will later.

I can spread my toes, but I can't roll my tongue.

DH can roll his tongue, but he can't spread his toes.

Nope. Can't do it, I can pick things up with them though.

I can spread my toes, pick things up with them and just move my pinky toe.

I can also move both of my eyebrows seperately and make my eyeballs move in different directions.

I can't spread my toes but my darling wife can......and I find this rather endearing ;)

ps. I can't roll my tongue but I can wiggle my ears........actually...flap would be a better description

Yes I can spread them but I can't close them on my left foot. Always somewhat spread.

I can move my pinky toe seperately!

start by moving your toes with your hand or a stick or something. Your body will recognize which muscles are moving and over time you will be able to do it.

I can use my toes like my hands. I can spread them, grab things with them, write my name with them (holding a pencil), when my kids and I are fooling around, I'll use my toes to pinch them (they are afraid of daddy's toes :rotfl: ) etc...
I tell my wife that her toes are dumb because they can't do anything. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my big toe is shorter than my 2nd and 3rd toe. My wife's toes (which can't do anything) are the opposite. Her big toe is longer than any of her other toes. :confused3

I can also roll my tongue, wiggle my ears (individually or both together), and wiggle my nose like Samantha from Bewitched - all at the same time too. :thumbsup2

my 2nd toe is the longest and my 3rd toe is the same length as my big toe.

I can roll and fold my tongue too

I can spread my toes! I can do it better with my right foot than my left, but I can still do it...

DBF hates it, he said I'm weird..

They sell this thing that you put your toes in, it has little slots so it stretches your toes out... I don't know what it's called though, but I've seen it on infomercials and in magazine ads...
