Can you split?

My dh and I are looking at buying points for a 10 day stay but I've read the FAQ and can't find the answer to a question we both have. Can you SPLIT your trip? If we buy 10 days can we take two trips in a year for 5 days each???

Are you talking about buying enough points for a 10 day stay every year, or renting enough points for a single 10 night visit?

Either way you can split those points however you choose. You can do 10 one day trips if you wanted.
If you are renting, you will have to have the Member book the trip according to what you want.

Hey, luvmulan, I think you might be misunderstanding how the DVC system works. When you become a member, you buy a certain number of points. You can use the points charts--available in your member book, or through a link which should be at the very top of this page--to budget your points accordingly. Any points not used this year, can be banked for use next year. You get to choose your vacation dates and what room size you like.

Adding to what others have already stated - DVC points also give you the flexibilty to reserve a larger unit such as a 3 bedroom grand villa for less nights or a studio unit for a longer stay. Point requirements are also different throughout the year so you can splurge all your points over a Christmas stay or be able to make 2 trips during the year during the lower points seasons. I think all the different point combinations are endless.

DVC is flexibility

you can stay at OKW in a 1-bedroom for 3 nights, then stay at BWV in a studio for 2 night.

then on your next trip stay in SSR for 2 nights in a studio, then stay at VWL in a 1-bedroom for 2 night.

or all 5 nights at one place - or change every day - it is YOUR choice.

that one of the things have make DVC so great!!!

Just tell those kids its 10 two day trips(10 nights). Thats 20 days fo park visiting.

If you do heavy on the weekends it doesn't make sense to use the points for that. 7 days is reasonable, 10 days with 2 weekends is not JUST on points.

I'm a little confused but I think I'm figuring it out. It looks like I have a lot to learn about how this point thing works but I can still tell that it's definitely worth doing! Thanks so much everyone =) We're already planning on going back for Halloween and a few days over Christmas break, we're HOOKED!
