Can you spend a week at disneyland?

We spent a week last October and we are spending another week this October. We do not think it is too much time, but we only spend about 6 hrs per day in the parks. We are slow and take long rest breaks so we still do not see everything that we want to!

I definitely think 7 days is a good idea. We always stay at least 10 and never get bored. Living so far away, we take our time and enjoy each day, no hurrying.

My 2 year old daughter, my beautiful wife, and I could ALL stay at Disneyland for a week. We could stay for a month! Disneyland is the best park. It has so much history being the first Disney park. :thumbsup2

Been the last couple of years and do 3 days, but just not enough..so next year will be 6 days... there is so much to do and see and if you want to do all or most than having longer time to do it slower is better option, IMPO.

As for airport... SNA as stated above, and we get a mini van taxi straight off the rank for $45..

Honestly two days is ideal for me, three max. It is more because my DW likes to go all day, meaning from about 8am to 11pm, in fact we just got back to the room for our second day and I am wiped out. If we got a five day pass, my DW would go from open to close each day, because she wouldn't want to waste the time or money spent. I can't keep up with that.

My thoughts... well, yes you can book a room, and there is certainly plenty to do... BUT....You will need to plan to spend two of your days not passing beyond the esplanade, as Disney is averse to you visiting their PARKS for more than 5 days.

Until Disney resolves their stupidity .. I can't in good honesty recommend a long trip, though... back in the day... we did do a lovely 9 day 8 night stay. We took it slow and stayed on property and did a split stay between the Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel. A week is not too long for a great vacation but it might be too long for your pocket book.

I have stayed for 11 nights with 10 days in the parks. That was a bit much. There was 5 of us and our kids were little. Last year we had 6 days in the parks only 4 of us and the kids all grown. We liked this time frame. Would have liked one more day just to soak up the magic. We also planning for dec 2013/jan 2014. Looking at 8 days in the park. There will only be three of us.

So yes I think 7 days us fine.

As a family with 2 grade school children, DL is a family favorite for our trips, and we try to go once a year. We have done 3-5 days, and felt that 3 wasn't quite enough, 4 was good, but 5 was best, and we personally feel like its the max we would do. It's exhausting! We do take our time with children and take breaks most days, and never stay too late in the parks, to make sure our children get enough sleep. So I would honestly say for adult only trips, you could get done even more than we do and still take your time. I would be surprised if you felt like you didn't get everything in within 4-5 days.
Other people we know who are not Disney lovers, but take their kids anyways, seem to always report back to me that 2-3 days is their limit. So obviously different people get different things from their experience.

We always try to fly into SNA (John Wayne Airport), it's small and so easy to navigate and quick in/out. It's worth paying a little extra for. We hate LAX, but will fly into if it saves enough money. Last trip we used the Disneyland Express and will do the same for our upcoming October trip. It's a full size bus. Check Get Away Today or Ares travel for pricing for their vouchers.

Have fun!

Are you asking the question to figure out if you can save money or are you asking the question to determine if there's enough activities to fill your time? Your reason will determine the answer.

If you're looking to save money then 7 days is probably too long. You can pretty much see and do everything the park offers in 5 days.

If you're just trying to figure out if there's enough to do then I say 7 days would be awesome because I've never had a problem occupying my time at Disneyland. It never mattered if I've visited every attraction a few times because I could never get enough of my favorite activities. I could ride Space Mountain 20 times and not get bored with it. However, I live in CO and getting to Disneyland is a major event so repeating activities over and over is not a big deal.

If you think you'll get bored then SoCal has plenty to offer. When I went in 1998 we not only did Disneyland but Knots, Universal and Magic Mtn as well. We also took a drive out to Venice Beach for a day. All of those activities only took us 7 days; 3 days in Disneyland, 1 day at Knots, 1 day at Magic Mtn, 1 day at Universal and 1 day at Venice beach. Please keep in mind that this was before California Adventure existed.

I guess your question is best answered by saying, if you love Disney and the magic it offers then you shouldn't have a problem enjoying an extended stay. However, if repeating Disneyland activities seems boring then I would look into other SoCal activities to fill the remainder of your time.

Good luck. :)

For the last few visits (and our upcoming trip in December), our pattern has been to do something in LA or SD for the first few days, and then arrive at Disney for 6 days. Once we arrive at Disney, we don't go anywhere else. We like to be imersed in the Disney bubble instead having other destinations mixed into that time.

6 days works for us because we need to take frequent breaks in the room. An average day for us looks like this:

  • Arrive right around rope drop (or early entry).
  • Stay in the park(s) until lunch time
  • Go back to the room to eat lunch and take a long nap
  • Go back to the park(s) at 4 or 5
  • Have dinner in the parks and stay until 10 (we'll stay until closing if we aren't too tired)

I should add that I have problems with my immune system and tend to get sick while traveling. By following this formula, I'm better rested and less likely to get too sick at Disneyland. We used to go for 5 days, but I found that I pushed past breaks and my health suffered. With 6 days I have the freedom to skip a day to rest if needed.

You can do most of the highights of the parks in 2-4 days, but with Disney I always enjoy longer trips. We've done 7 days to DL (and one of our upcoming DL trips is 14 days), and it's awesome. We've also done 3 and 4 week trips to WDW. 3 weeks was fine. 4 weeks might have been a little too long. But I can't really say without trying it again, just to make sure. :)

It depends on how much they're into Disneyland. For example, my family and my wife are all obsessed with Disneyland, and I am too obviously. We could spend weeks at the park and not get tired of it.

Otherwise, usually a 3 day stint allows you to cover most every ride or attraction at least once. Spend one night seeing World of Color, spend another night seeing Fantasmic, and another night jumping on a busy ride during those shows so the lines are super short.

Check prices at Santa Ana airport, or if you're willing to drive and flights are cheaper, try Burbank for less chaos.

I think that is a great idea, our trip last year we had scheduled it for 7 nights and ended up paying for an 8th night just to enjoy more!! We didn't want it to end and now for our 2013 trip we have 8 nights reserved but will most likely end up extending our trip to the happiest place on earth!! :yay:
