Can you ship something to a resort?

My best friend is heading down to WDW in a few weeks to belatedly celebrate her birthday with her sister. If I had the ability, I'd totally fly in for a day and surprise her, but since I don't, I'd like to send her a card and something small in the mail.

I called the resort (she's staying at the Boardwalk) and the cast member with whom I spoke with was at first really confused as to what I was asking, and kept saying that there's a Disney department that'll deliver flowers. When I reworded my question, she said that I could send letters and gave me the address, but didn't answer my question about having something sent via UPS/FedEx. She sounded annoyed so I didn't press, and figured I'd take to the boards and see if anyone else has done this or if its even at all possible.

Basically, I'd just like to send my friend something small, probably in a padded envelope. The cast member at the Boardwalk DID inform me that I'd need to let my friend know something was waiting for her at the desk, since they don't do room deliveries, which is fine.

Has anyone done this? Or, alternatively, anyone have any suggestions of something nice to send? I was thinking maybe a Disney giftcard so I could "buy" her dinner one night.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, just ship it down addressed to :

Your Friend
C/o Resort Name
Dates of stay
Address
City, State, Zip

Ooh - but now thinking about it, is the Boardwalk a convention hotel? If so, it would cost her $10 or so to pick up the package.

Maybe slip a card with the gift card in it into her luggage?

Yes, but beware that at convention resorts (BWI, YC, CR, GF) they may charge you a fee because it has to go through convention services. Some have been charged and others not. I am not sure what the fee is this year. $10 as mentioned above? I thought it was more?

I can't help you with the convention fee, but I have actually made orders online and had them shipped to WL, exactly as a previous poster said to address it. I ordered pins from a sale online at the Disney store, realized I wouldn't get them at home in time, so put WL as my shipping address. I expected I would need to check at the desk, but I actually had a voicemail on the hotel phone when it arrived.

I was just about to mention the convention resort fee. Last year I had something shipped to us at the Boardwalk and was charged to pick it up. IIRC it was around $10 or so.

I wish I could slip it into her luggage, but she lives 3,000 miles away. :)

Good to know i.e. the fee - that would be kind of lame if she had to pay to pick up a letter, right? :(

First of all, you did not speak to the resort; you spoke with a CM at a central call center that answers as if they are in the resort. Some are better trained than others.....the one you happened to talk to was obviously clueless about shipping. Best to always look here first.

There is a sticky at the top of the board called "shipping to your resort." Follow the instructions for methods of shipping, correct addresses and applicable fees.

Ah, that makes sense - she answered as if she was at the resort, but I thought it was strange that I could get through to the resort that easily (and quickly!)

Thank you both for posting this thread - super helpful!
