I know that you can charge things to your room if you use a credit card, but what about sending money ahead of time?
I will be saving month to month for this trip and thought if I could just send payments to my reservation then it won't be tempting to use it as it sits in the bank. I figured this way the credit is there on my room and it I go over that then I would use the cc. Has anyone done this before?

great question...good idea.

I'm not sure, but my guess would be yes.
Certainly if you call WDTC, or CRO they could tell yer! :)

Disney is always happy to take your money. :)

I just booked the Yacht Club for Nov. 8 thru the 13th. I sent in my first payment by the due date. I just now cut a check for the nightly amount to send in this month. I always have my room paid off by the time I arrive. I purchase my tickets at AAA before I go (Seasonal pass). So all I have to do is check in and have fun. I know many people tell me that I could be putting that $$ in my savings account and gain interest (what 2%?), but some of us are not that responsible to not touch it. I have been doing this for two years and it always works for us. I have never sent more than the room amount though. I guess you would just have a room credit when you arrive...anyone know?

We did this on our last trip in Oct. 2000. Now I think we will do it from now on. It helps to have a little extra. I don't like charging a vacation. When we left they actually owed us money.:D

I overnighted my check payment a few days before we were due to arrive. I brought my copy of the shipping receipt with me as well as my room confirmation with total amount due from Disney. My check was applied to the account before I even checked in! I used my credit card at check in so that we could have charging priviledges while there. It all worked out very well.

My only word of caution is check your bill when you receive it at check out time. I was surprised to see that I was charged double for our accomodations. Maybe because we had 2 rooms? I called the front desk to question it. I told him I had my confirmation from CRO with me. He requested that I bring it down to the front desk which I did. There were no hassles at all. They looked at my confirmation and credited the bill. He also pointed out the phone number on the bill that I would need to call if I have any further problems. But everyone was very courteous and pleasant and as I said it all seems to be working out fine. Just keep your eyes open!

I would like to pay off our room for June now since I have the money in my checking account. We are staying at POR. Who do I send the check to? Or will it just be easier to write the check when we get there? (what type of ID will I need). We did a package through AAA last time (hadn't found the boards yet;) ) so this is new to me. Thanks.

Send your check made payable to Walt Disney Parks & Resorts to Post Office Box #911726, Orlando, Florida, 32891-1726. Be sure to put the name of Hotel, Dates and Confirmation number on the memo part. I copy my yellow confirmation and send it along with my check to be safe. I have never had any problem doing this monthly.:)

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge a few years back and about eight months before, I sent a check for a nights stay each month until it was paid for. I also purchased one park hopper ticket each month for 4 months prior to our trip. It was really great to show up and have only food and souvenir costs to pay for!

Before we owned DVC we did this for years. Each month we would send $$ down to our reservation. We paid our room, passes, and some room charge $$ this way for each trip. It was like a continuous bill. As soon as we got home from a trip we'd book next year's and start sending the $$ down again.

We always have our trip paid for (except meals) before we go. This is our 10th trip coming up this summer and it too will be paid in full. We made our reservations in January. I send one night's payment each month. By the time we go in August the week is paid for. We gave the kids their passes (premium annual) for Christmas and so far I have purchased one adult PAP and I'm half the way to saving for the second adult ticket. We just seem to enjoy it so much more knowing it is paid for in full and there is no charging at all! I also put aside $100 a month for meals. We plan on about $100 a day for our family of four for meals and spending money each day. We almost always come back with money left over. What do we do with the money we bring back? Apply it to next year's trip!

You could also purchase Disney Dollars at your local Disney Store. This is our way of paying for meals, etc. in advance. Each time you build up some extra vacation savings, buy Disney Dollars!
